As with most professional ball sports (ie, union, league, gridiron, soccer) playing dimensions are all set at exact, or near to exact, standards.

Why can't that be the case with AFL football? Would the game change at all if playing dimensions were all set at the same size?

Any thoughts?

soccer has no exact dimensions, it has a range.

Minimum width 46m maximum 90m.

Cricket ground size varies greatly, too.

I think it's one of the fantastic things about AFL. How sanitised do you want the game to be?

Perhaps we should play all matches at indoor Telstra dome on synthetic grass?
