Genuinely embarrassing umpiring performance tonight. They are humans who make mistakes but that doesn't absolve them of responsibility for those mistakes.

And you just know the AFL will tick off what was a borderline corrupt night of officiating.

Apparently I'm not the only one who noticed it pugsville

SO ? Being a super footballer does Make you an objective observer

WHen you folow an football team emotionally you simoly do not make good objective observers. Your perception of the match is intrinsically emotional.

Collingwood keeps winning close games. If all these umps are cheats it simply would not happen. Ove rthe last two umpires had plenty of chances to prevent collingwood form willing, all it would take would be another outrageous decision.

They can't openly cheat at risk of losing their jobs.

It’s time for the afl coaches to call the umpiring out!
They can be objective with it, how do we coach the players when the umpires are making it up on the fly?
Just a simple question, but can put it in the spotlight!

Well which is it make your mind up.

Are they opeingly cheating such that anybody can see or not?

Or do you have to squint bad hold your head sideways?
I'm not saying they are cheating, its that they have to be cheating to be making decisions this poorly and not face consequences for it. It's really not that hard to disguise actual cheating anyways with how most free kicks are "up for interpretation".

You 're not saying they are cheating but they have to be cheating? Do you hear yourself? Get someone to read it back to you

When your work out what your atcually mean and are able to express it without immediately contradicting yourself get back to me

Haha piss off, you're the only one on this forum that can't comprehend what I'm saying.

Umpires make mistakes just like players. As a fan you have an interest in the match which creates bais. Times when your team gets the short end, when i'ss the ther way around it simply does not register this is human nature.

It's a vrey hard game to umpire. The Camera never has the same view as the umpires. Who do not have slow mo replays.

People need to get over themselves and reflect for moment.
Four umpires! You didn't need slo mo replays to see the Murphy and the Johnson incidents.

The Murphy one, the umpire was only a couple of metres away and had the same view as the camera.

No bias in those two incidents, even Crow supporters agree they should have been free kicks.

You didn't watch the game, did you?
If you say yes, you're a liar.

Mistakes don't happen?

4 Umpires? At least two of them made a mistake?

Sure mistakes happen but not obvious ones and they both were obvious free kicks given that Crows and all neutral supporters agree.

What is it with your defensive of the indefensible.

They were wrong and bad decisions, surely you can at least agree to this.

Mistakes don't happen?
Former suburban umpire myself, umpired 250 games with 4 Grand Final field umpire appointments. When I made mistakes I got grilled and lost out on opportunities to umpire at higher levels. When AFL umpires make "mistakes" they get a slap on the ass. There is no accountability for blatantly wrong calls and no body to contact that doesn't just tick off on it.

Mistakes are mistakes, they are wrongful actions made against the spirit of the laws of the game. There needs to be consequences for mistakes made, regardless of intent or excuse. It was a mistake in umpiring if the umpire was not in the right positioning to see all of the contest.

Not even sure why I'm dignifying your silly posting with a response, but it's for the record. Literally no one shares your point of view lol.

What I find difficult to understand why not say yes they were wrong decisions but umpires can make two mistakes in a row that may cost the team a score.;)

Shows how bad the Level of Umpiring

Tbh I think we need more umpires on the field, 6 or 7 should do the trick.
When you look at a game like Gridiron, there are umpires everywhere.
Then you look at soccer and rugby there is one umpire.
We have four. And they still get it wrong any, many more times than those single umps in soccer and rugby.

"Let me just patronise you all for a moment..."

Pretty sure there's enough level-headed people here who can tell wheat from chaff. It's a very hard game to umpire BECAUSE THE AFL MAKES IT SO.

But for over 100 years (at least1) a smack in the face when marking and a head-high tackle both constitute free kicks. But kicking the ball to a dead area so your injured player (from the previous non-free kick) can safely walk off is somehow a 'deliberate'.

It was poor skill, poor reading of the situation and badly adjudicated all around. Same as Tuesday's game.
