North Adelaide: For the absolute life of me, I still cannot work out why the hell there is a 'V' on the jumper. What does it stand for? I mean Victoria State of Origin has a 'V' to clearly stand for 'Victoria'. What is the 'V' for??.
Someone will know, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with an old club called Victorians or something like that. Not sure if it's anywhere near true though.

Well, you did say 'please'.

Haha love it, cheers :thumbsu:

The V on the jumper is suppose to make the players look stronger. Melbourne went to it first, then South Melbourne and the Victorian State side. These were also joined by the Bears and recently Port Adelaide and Fremantle.

It is suppose to be a visual trick that the V does by making the upper chest look larger than it is with the V starting small and becoming wider from there. The V is also used by South Fremantle in the WAFL.

Think you'll find Fitzroy was the first team to wear a Vee jumper in the VFL.
Melbourne adopted it in 1919, seven years after Fitzroy.
Hawthorn & North joined the VFL in 1925 and changed their VFA jumpers to Vee designs. then South in 1932.
In 1935 Footscray had a Vee and Yoke (and stripes) for one season.

I understand what your saying but this is no vee like Melbourne, Freo or South Melb. This is clearly a letter V and i see no difference between that and Vic SoO. Should have just kept it going up to the shoulders or better yet kept the old red and white stripes. Regardless of what they want the V to look like, it's still a letter V.

I like it, it's something unique instead of the same old stripes and hoops, sure it's odd that a south australian team would do it but still

Hello, I am still working on this in my spare time and am currently working on North's kits. I need to know what the back sponsors logo is. I know it is Toshiba but it has some writing underneath and I cannot find that logo.

Just looking at the OP. Centrals aren't navy :/ They have pretty much the exact same colour scheme as the Western Bulldogs. Not sure if the bays have a straight sash either. Just had a quick look and the sash does appear to have a slight curve in it

Yeah, I have updated them with those changes that you also have noticed I just haven't posted them.
Also, I am watching the Centrals v Port game ad I have noticed that some players have a red collar and some have blue. Anyone know what is going on there?

Ahk mate, all good then :thumbsu: Wouldn't have a clue about those collars though :/ Everything on the website has red collars, except for in the shop where they are blue
What's the score btw?

Was pretty close but since it has been blown out of the water, Centrals up by 40 points. It's on TV you know.

Yeah, I know. Just cbf getting up and turning the tv on  Im supposed to be 'doing homework' as well, so it would just be another distraction anyway.
Saw the score before and it was close which is why I asked

The blue collars are last year's jumpers.

I have noticed also, that the players with the blue collars are either promoted from reserves or returning players. Not sure what is going on there.

The new versions with the red collars are rounded off down the bottom of the jumper, the cuffs and collars are more thinly stitched and the Holden logo across the chest has been blown up a bit.

There should be a limit on the amount of space a sponsor should take up on a uniform as there is in the AFL. They could be a bit move relaxed. But they can't let it get out of control.

Just look at the Glenelg uniform with the sponsors logo over the sash. It is not respectful of the players that have worn that jumper. By limiting the amount of space that is available on the jumper for sponsors it will increase the value of the area available. At the moment it looks like sponsors can name their spot on the jumper and buy it. What next, this website sponsors Sturt and tells them to wear this

They are players out there representing a football club, not a companies billboards.

I've said it before, the state leagues rely on their sponsors so heavily and without them they would simply collapse. 10x more people will watch an AFL game and if the sponsors want to actually get their moneys worth they need to get a lot more exposure than they would in the AFL. Realistically, who's gonna pay attention to the small short sponsor on Glenelg's shorts? 23Legend was even asking us who certain short sponsors were, because he had trouble researching them. We all know and can find the AFL short sponsors though ;)
I'm not saying its right but unfortunately it has to be done :(

But there has to be a limit. Today it is Glenelg's sash, then the Sturt jumper, and then it could be the prison bars on the Port Magpies jumper. They could make a good advert for Crimestoppers by putting a picture of a criminal behind them.

You wouldn't do it because of the history behind that jumper. See some of those other jumpers with all those logos is quite sad. You look at historical photos of SANFL matches and you see these clubs wearing their jumpers with legends such as Barrie Robran, Malcolm Blight and Russell Ebert. Now players wear those jumpers, they look like someone has just wacked a few stickers on them. If no limits are set by the SANFL, where will it stop.

Yeah mate I agree with you completely :thumbsu: It shouldn't be happening but unfortunately I think it will unless somehow the SANFL starts to get national exposure. I must admit, I haven't watched a full SANFL game for years (except for the 1st rd and GFs last year) so therefore the advertising still isn't working on me. I probably watch more SANFL than at least 1/2 of SA's population too... I can't see it getting much worse than what is though. Glenelg is the only real shocker off the top of my head. Most of them (Port for example) just have more than one sponsor on the chest and the back which is bearable.

Yep, I think the perfect examples of incorporating a sponsor logo into a guernsey are Richmond and Geelong, Richmond's being subtle and respectful and Geelong's just fitting in perfectly. I absolutely hate the True Value Solar logo on the back of our guernseys... with the number to call and everything! This is also something I hate about NRL... you can't even see the jersey details the sponsor logos disrespect them that greatly!

Are they paying their players to much. Getting ex-AFL stars over and playing them lots of money. This can be good for the exposure of the league, but how much does it cost the club?
