See above. Difficult for those mids to have that one decent quarter when the opposition ruck is getting six hitouts to advantage to zero and five centre clearances to zero in that quarter. Six hitouts to advantage in a full game would be a decent result.

It didn’t work out but I don’t hate the list management principle. Let’s be honest, flags are pretty hard to win these days without spending half a decade in the bottom 4.

We had a core group absolutely primed for a flag tilt and needed some B+ players to pad out the 22. We then played home prelims in 20 and 21.

It looks like the strategy we are trying to build the Rozee/Butters/Marshall/Georgiades flag tilt around. Continue flipping players like Amon for draft capital and salaray cap space for the next couple of years. Get games into a new core and then again fill the needs and depth chart via free agency.

And helps keep Hayes out of the side, by Hinkley playing a make shift ruck setup, rather than Hayes more games to make it clear to even the happy clappers, how much better it is when your midfield gets first use of the ball (which Lycett doesn't do).

Stevie Motflop - a tale of a descent into the potato realm

I've made this point before, but I'm bored so here it is visualised in shitty Excel graph form.

Geelong were happy to offload Motlop without much concern whatsoever. Since coming to Port, he has basically gotten worse every year.

The below graph shows his average disposals per game. He arrived at Port in 2018.



Well ok, you might say, he's getting a bit less (or a lot less) of the ball. But surely he's still dangerous and hits the scoreboard? LOL NOPE. Below is his goals per game average. From being a dangerous almost 1.5-1.8 goal a game player, he joins us and becomes a less than 1 goal a game spud.



But Mr sobrave sir, surely there's a silver lining? With his hard running from the wings he must be delivering the ball inside 50 to our leading targets (lol) with aplomb?

Look youse blokes, scorin goals isn't everything. Kenny is a defence first type of guy, it's a team mantra and surely he's turned Motlop into a hard tackling beast???

Well look, he hasn't nosedived like in everything else, but has basically not improved either. In fact his entire Port career, he still laid more tackles per game in 2015 for the Geelong Pusswahs.



In conclusion, we picked up a guy who wasn't consistent but at least had flashes of brilliance and performed to a high standard in some games. He immediately got much worse upon arriving here and then continued to become even more of a dud the longer we kept him, until reaching the nadir of shitness in 2022 where he's clearly going to be delisted at season end.

On ya bike Mots, I'd say it's been a good ride but we'd probably have been better off without ya.
