Let’s play two wingman that have NFI and five up space out wide so they can fold back between the wing and the opposition forward 50.

Either epically dumb coaching or epically dumb players?

You choose. But either way someone has brains in their arse.

Issues everywhere, worst for mine is still that our leaders are some of our worst offenders when it comes to momentum changing **** ups.

First half was decent, in that we were full of vigor. We were never a chance though because at our best we were still making unforced errors like we were being paid to, and Port were just coasting. Third quarter we dropped intensity, Port saw the downhill slope had just cleared up, and they laughed all the way to the bank as our heads dropped and stayed dropped. Fourth quarter was whatever. Our intensity better than the third, and credit to them for not completely checking out, but even with sporadic intensity it was clear that everyone was moping.

Shit sucks yo. I'll say it again, first thing in the pre season the club needs to have the lads in workshops working on their mentality. We have a cultural issue. There might be half decent bonds between most of the players but it means **** all on gameday when heads drop across the board.

be honest gaso, you been sitting on that gif all arvo,

No

But this one yes…

Chicken littles everywhere. We’re improving. I get frustrated too believe me but if you can’t see the improvement you’re a football illiterate.

We've put together 4 maybe 5 good quarters of football in 11 weeks.

Even if we are improving in individual areas we aren't improving enough to keep up with any other team in this competition, nor enough to offset our regression in other areas, and at our current rate we will be extremely lucky to win a game this season. It's statistically improbable for sure but that's the reality for this club at the moment.

Dermie rambles on a bit but his summation of Fords effort with and without the footy was spot on . This summation should also apply to Zurhaar,Curtis and Stephenson can only afford to play 2 of them if we want to improve defensively as a side and retain the ball I50 .

Yeah we’re shit I know. But the team cohesion is improving, hence also the individual efforts. We’re out of the sewer and into the gutter. Incremental af, but better than going backwards. Which we ain’t.

We have players on our list that aren't, or aren't going to develop into, good AFL players.
Clarkson and Viney must now know who these are. Play those that aren't in the VFL and focus
development of those that are seen as having potential.

But dev, they keep saying they’re working with hired leadership companies and people trained to help with this?! And apparently it’s been extremely helpful. I think we might just be stupid.

You prepared to stomach weeks of 100 point losses or 50 point losses?

Our fitness levels are so far off the average team, let alone the top echelon.
This is absolutely our problem. Yes we have a young team. Even a skillful team. We can compete when we're fresh and all is well. But not once the game wears on. Then we stop competing.

A few guys are preventing us from getting smashed by even more than we are. LDU is one of them. Sheezel is another. There are a few more.

We have to change our captains. Nice guys, both of them, but they're not getting it done. Simpkin gets some slack because of injuries/ concussion, but Luke. Oh Luke. Where has your 2020 form gone?

I didn't watch all of it. First time this season.

From what I saw:
Zurhaar played better today but his body language isn't great. Might be gone at this rate.

Larkey is horribly down on form and confidence. So is Bailey Scott. Neither would be in the top 10 in Syd right now and it's killing us. They needed to at least stay at 2023 performance levels if not improve and they've gone backwards. They are, between the two of them, a big part of our slide this year.

Thank goodness our coaches don't read this forum or they'd have dropped Aiden Corr. Has been very good the last 3 weeks.

George Wardlaw: love him, and everything he does. We have to find a way to get him fit enough so he gets it more often. That's when we will hurt the opposition more.

Duursma: the talent is obvious. Would like him to impact more but it's still early.

Liam Shiels I am sure is helpful at training and to set standards but on field he's not the player he was.

Stephenson is frustrating footballer. Seemed to have another form drop off today. Not what we need from a semi-senior player. Same draft as LDU, taken 2 picks later, only half the footballer that LDU is.

Speaking of LDU, we need to throw the kitchen sink at him in terms of a contact offer. Irreplacable. Without him we lose by 100 pts today.

Tucker was a surprise. More like that please.

Powell is coming along nicely. As is Comben. Thought Taylor was a positive today. WDawson looks alright.

Xerri is doing a good enough job. The least of our problems.

Again, it's fitness, fitness, fitness. We've got the skills. Our chipping the ball gameplan isn't really working though. Eventually we turn it over and the opposition score. It's masking our fitness deficit.

In the off season we need to be running on the sand dunes, in the mountains, on the beaches, everywhere. Players need to run from their homes to training. Whatever it takes.

We also need to draft and trade for more endurance athletes. Then in 2025 we might start to win a few games.

We're a chance in 2 weeks against West Coast. Stay positive, guys. This won't and can't last forever.

Going early here considering there's a whole quarter left, but here's a few thoughts now that we have been blown out again;
  • Why are we so much smaller and less fit than every single other team? It can't just be a youth factor.
  • Our bottom 5 players are holding us back every single week.
  • Too many of our "good" players had absolute stinkers today.
  • Tucker, who has been a deserved whipping boy most of this year, was pretty decent today I guess.
  • Sheezel deserves better team mates.
  • When Wardlaw has the ball, good things happen. But he doesn't get the ball enough.
  • Duursma needs to figure out how to get more involved, and needs to learn to play two-way footy.
  • Xerri needs to stop taking the ball out of the ruck.
  • We need another contested ball winner in the guts. Phillips? Zurhaar full time mid? I'm not fussed. But it needs to happen.
  • Powell is weird because he gets decent numbers but I don't feel like any of his touches are particularly damaging, nor are they a crucial part of a chain that leads to a goal. I might be crazy but he feels like he's in no man's land.
  • Sigh.

It would be like watching wippets vs greyhounds going into the first corner of a race and the wippets getting pushed aside..A lot of our players are not or ever will be big enough. Scott, Powell, Ford, Taylor, and Stephenson will never put on size.

Xerri needs to stop taking the ball out of the ruck.
It will never happen unfortunately.

I might be crazy but he feels like he's in no man's land.
He is still learning his role and gets lost easily. l watched him standing next to Wines and the size comparison was very noticable.
