Norm Smith Medallist
No real thread for this apart from VFL - but this is probably a more broad brush conversation about stability and the level of coaching across the board.
How up and down has this developmental association been. Think about blokes going out to play different roles across multiple seconds teams in the same competition. No wonder it’s also coincided with some really interesting on field output.
A few other clubs stand-alone alignments for example;
Adelaide - 2014 - makes a grand final 2017
Collingwood 2008 - grand finals 10/11
Geelong and Hawthorn - stand alone from 2000 - huge involvement late 2000s
Richmond - 2014 - three premierships since 2017
St Kilda - 2009 - 09/10 grand finals
Western Bulldogs - 2014 - 2016 grand final.
It’s taken us until 2018 financially to get our shit together in the seconds space, and it feels finally we’ve got the resources to set ourselves up here. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say it’s helped these other clubs to streamline and make this football education more concise.
