As was pointed out by Champion Data's Daniel Hoyne, we consistently lose both the clearance count, particularly centre clearances and contested possession. This has been the case for the past 12 weeks. If this continues, say goodbye to winning the flag. Not sure if this has already been commented on but Champion Data (I know they're not perfect but better than AF/SC) had Rampe 2nd best player on the ground! None of us saw that coming.
I think Cleary's form late last year plus whatever he showed on the training track could be ample grounds to justify his inclusion. I'd have him ahead of a bunch of players that played against the Lions. He's done his crime and he's done his time. Have to move forward and we can't afford not to have him in the team.
Cleary is 20. Gus and Matty are both 21 years old. Will Green is 19 years old. Caleb Mitchell and Corey Warner are 20 and 21 years old - and there you have an entire midfield with inside and outside players and a ruck. I think they have plenty of promise. (Not to mention that Gulden is also under 23 and Braeden only turned 23 last month.)
I suspect (and it's only a suspicion) that there may have been other factors at play than his onfield performance. I don't know what but options include attitude, discipline, drugs or other misbehaviour, dishonesty/character. I could absolutely be wrong about this and maybe Clarko is just bringing about his best or he was homesick and needed to be closer to mum's cooking.
Jimmy J Jordon also a Swans fan.
