Surely to goodness after Thompson and van Berlo holding on for an extra year plus Douglas and now Mackay we're realising that "leadership" and "setting a good example" are nothing.

Can he play? Yes or no?

Should be applied to everyone on our list. No other considerations whatsoever.

Then your leaders emerge from those who can actually play the game.
Could he play in 2017, yes
Can he play in 2021, who knows, but he’s up against it based on his 3 season form/injury history
Does he bring anything else to the club? I’m not seeing it!

IF he came cheaply AND his body holds up then i actually think Fantasia could be a handy pick up. Big ifs considering his history and the fact Dodo is involved.

You actually think Dodoro would accept 38 for Fantasia? Zero chance.

He'll be demanding our Pick 8, at a minimum, I also wouldn't be shocked if he initially asks for Pick 1 for him. I'm not joking either.

He knocked back two first round picks for Daniher, he's an absolute clown and a nightmare for clubs to deal with
8 yes he will ask but not 1.
we dont even have pick 38 so wheres that come from? do u mean 40? or 29?

I forgot, we have reached that time of the offseason where DMAC become's the public enemy #1 in BF.

Not going down this well trodden path

He's not. It's just that him being considered means list spots aren't at a premium and our rebuild is no more than letting Brad go for 2 and using the draft picks afforded us by a shit year and GWS' crapness. You made the claim about the value of list spots and you can't wait to use one to see Mackay play another season. You're just wrong about the value of list spots is all.

For me, If you are bringing in B graders to your side they better bring leadership or set a good example for the youth you are blooding.

Do you see either of those qualities in Raz?

He does have X factor. Agree with the injury assessment but you often see injury plagued players change clubs and recover. He is only 25 and is a walk up start in our side if fit.
Th biggest issue in this whole situation will be we have lots of more pressing priorities and Port have (currently) zero to trade with. I reckon picks next year will be valued very highly as you would think a number of Vic kids might miss out on getting drafted this year due to no opportunity to show improvement. Unlikely either club would give one to the Bombers. Our compo back for Atkins and Brad will set up a lot of the trading and draft period

Yeah, so I'm hearing he's going to nominate the Crows as his club of choice.

I think this is the step in the right direction for the club, Hately and him both nominating us shows that they seem to be impressed with Nicks and the football club in general, Hately could have easily nominated Port and been in there best 22 but he chose us.

Honestly big tick for us I think.

And our own injury management history. We got a guy over from Kangaroos who hadn't missed a game in 5 years and he could barely get on the park.

Yeah, Dodoro is a tool. But the fact is we're not the ones coming knocking on his door about Fantasia, it's Fantasia coming to us because he wants out of Essendon. If he asks too high a price we can just walk away and Dodoro then needs to either find another club to take Fantasia, or hold onto a player who doesn't want to be there and then just lose him for a compo pick next year when he's a free agent. Although given the state Essendon are in, that compo pick could actually be pretty good next year...

hes more likely to go to port IMO which is fine by me
they will give a player or a future 2nd or something to shut dodoro up. still would not surprise me if he was in a deal for wines

From the same article, suggesting we don't bid at pick 1 (yes, they are just hoping)
"The Dogs will likely trade back in the draft to bank points for Ugle-Hagan, with a bid likely to come between Pick 2 and Pick 5. "

-From the no discussion thread.

I do wonder if they're treating it as a foregone conclusion we'll trade with the dogs for pick 12. Optics wise, it makes a lot of sense to marry the two of us up as trade partners, especially if we were interested in O'Driscoll (who I'm pretty sure is slated to be around 12-20 in range).

Not sure why a 25 year old injury prone small-medium forward is on our radar.
We already have McAdam who is the same age. Should we delist him too?
We need quality players of all ages. If Fantasia forces Stengle to lift his game both on and off the field then that's what's best for the team.

I mean, it's certainly not difficult to see that small to mid sized forwards are a need. Stengle is proving to be a loose cannon off-field, McAdam is injury prone, Murphy is Murphy and McHenry is really a midfielder pretending to be a small forward.

It could certainly do with some bolstering, though I wouldn't be breaking the bank to do so.

You see, I never said I can’t wait to see DMAC play another season. You wrongly assumed that. I’m just not surprised he’s earned a conversion with management about another deal based on performance and what his teammates, coaches and Adam Kelly have all said about what he brings to the side.

And him being considered doesn’t at all change the premium on list spots that we have considering the next 2 months worth of moves we look primed to make. It just means he’s ‘in the mix’. IMO if we execute our plans to the full extent this offseason and list sizes are reduced, then DMAC is going to be a first wave casualty, and we definitely shouldn’t be looking at bringing in glass bodied B graders like Fantasia.

If that is not the case and we get less draftees, or list size stay the same, then it’s a different story.

I'm a bit reluctant for us to have Fantasia publicly nominate us as his club of choice. If that happens - and we're obviously complicit in it - then we are somewhat morally bound to pursue him which dilutes our leverage somewhat. We don't want to be seen by prospective trade targets in future as a club who can't get a deal done. Just don't think Fantasia is worth nailing our colours to the mast for. If anything he's a last 48 hours of trade week add on trade for token value.

Port would do well to trade Wines for max value and replace him with Brouch on band 1 $. It just seems too obvious though.

FWIW 95% of the time a fringe player nominates a club they end up there, mostly due to deals being arranged in principle well in advance.
