Sulking about schedule changes during covid will be remembered for a long time at AFL house.
Geelong applied to have their scheduled home MCG match moved to Geelong as zero crowds means no point for them. AFL refused and cited a sponsorship reason around signage.
Rubbish. It's because their playing Richmond.
But at least they asked the question.

he did. But say we had offered pick 8 & 16 for Brisbane's pick 6 (that would have been a better offer than ports). Pick 6 would have secured one of Rozee, B King or B Smith. Could pick 6 and pick 13 or 21 got to pick 4? How about pick 3 maybe?. But as we never bothered to have a plan B strategy to try and trade up it is a moot point
Let's say we picked differently...

Rozee or Butters + Duursma?

Looks a bit different now.

Zac Bailey would be handy now.

Ignore the draft at your absolute peril.
Hamish has said the reason we traded out our pick (Liam Stocker/Carlton)was because we were set to take Xavier Duursma with it but Port snuck in ahead of us and obviously they didn't fancy other players at that point in the draft. That's how close we came to having Xavier Duursma on our list.

How did the trade nearly not happen?
If Port Adelaide hadn't chosen Xavier Duursma with pick 18, the choice before Adelaide's pick 19, then the Blues deal wouldn't have gone through. Instead, the Crows would have kept the selection and drafted Duursma.

It was port’s idea. After all their bleating about how important the showdown was for their bring back the bars, when it’s our home showdown they couldn’t give a toss and just saw it as a cheap solution that ultimately costs them nothing and still let’s them get a home game for Boaks 300th.

We have a heap of stuff planned for our home showdown that we’d still like to play in front of a crowd, have corporate functions, the variety lunch, etc.

It was a piss poor idea and good on Silvers for slapping it down.

Bingo Port trying to have it their way again, **** em.

And if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle

I'm backing Rozee in to be the better player over his career than either of those 2

That's a bad bet. Butters if he remains healthy is going to be an absolute star.

Hinge pl
Not really, we know Francis is AFL quality but we don't with Hinge. If we had a single spot for someone on the cheap I'd rather take a known AFL quality player.

Hinge might be quality but he's a higher risk than Francis
Hinge played 3 qtrs of footy AFTER popping his shoulder out and was still hitting packs.

I'll take 1 Hinge to 5 Francis.

Hope he can get the diving out of his game

He's already made it an artform. A few weeks ago in the match where he was injured, not content with a first A-1 quality dive when contacted by the oppo, he tried another one. On the wing, going for an uncontested mark, he threw himself into the air as if poleaxed, took the mark, but injured himself on the landing. It was hilarious, since there was no need for all the histrionics in the first place.

You can win a Brownlow doing it as well

You guys do realise he only weighs 71kg? He's gonna get absolutely bodied at times because he cracks in as hard as anyone and exposes himself to hits... the endeavour is what I respect most. Did you also notice how he caught Petracca holding the ball in that game, during his first quarter of footy after 3 months off?

Anyways I'm going to stop defending pear players now, probably watched too many of their games over the last couple of years because the girl I'm seeing is a fan of theirs and I may have taking too much of a liking to Butters, wishing he played for us. :tearsofjoy:

North Melbourne trades Pick 11 and 2019 fourth-round pick to Port Adelaide for Jared Polec, Jasper Pittard and Pick 48.
Hawthorn trades Ryan Burton, Pick 15, Pick 35 and its future fourth-round selection (on-traded from the Western Bulldogs) to Port Adelaide for Chad Wingard and its future third-round selection.
Fremantle trades Pick 6 and 2019 third-round pick to Port Adelaide for Pick 11, 23, 30 and 49.
Brisbane trades Sam Mayes and Pick 5 to Port Adelaide for Pick 6, Pick 35 and its future third-round selection (on-traded from Fremantle).

So I think I have this right (and I think I have missed something)
Port got
Ryan Burton, Sam Mayes and Pick 5, Pick 15, 2019 fourth-round

Port paid
Chad Wingard, Jared Polec, Jasper Pittard and picks 23, 30, 48 and 49 and 2x future third-round selection

So for a part time best 22, a spud, 2 first rounds picks and a future 4th they paid 3 regular best 22, 2 x 2nd round, 4 x 3rd round

I'm sure there is more because 23 is not theirs

End of the day they paid a very high price for Rozee

Agree

The strategy by the AFL is to play as mNy games they can while you can.

States are no certainty to come out of restrictions anytime soon.

Im in Sydney and we will definitely be un lockdown for another 4 weeks IMO.

Yep, it's not rocket surgery. It's as complicated a strategy as, "striking whilst the iron is hot". If we can play, we play, we stop playing only when we can't play anymore or the season has concluded.

We can’t have rated Duursma that highly given we drafted freakin McHenry ahead of him.

(I know, hindsight and all that...)

yes they did..but that is a parallel issue as what they paid to get pick 6 was a mid 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd rounder. Had our team had the gumption to trade up, surely..SURELY picks 8 & 16 or even if we had to, picks 8 & 13 would trump what port offered and anyway as we already had those picks, we could have got in early and taken port right out of the equation with an early trade. Instead, it looks like our muppets in charge thought its pick 2 or 3 or no deal - rather than climbing up like port did by trading into the back half of the top group and then further trading to get pick 5 to get that super end player - and there you are
