Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else but it looks like our Tassie games are set.

Hawthorn will host three Melbourne derbies and a ground-breaking twilight match in Tasmania next season. The AFL premier looks set to play regular-competition matches at Launceston's Aurora Stadium against North Melbourne, St Kilda, West Coast and Brisbane after a pre-season NAB Cup match against Richmond.

It is understood that the Hawks will also host a twilight fixture for the first time at Aurora Stadium.

Would the StKilda and North games have anything to do with our bad record against them in recent times?
Would like to see the game live, but if it means we get an extra win up, I'll take it.

Bad record? Ummm did you see the Prelim? The monkey's off the back now baby! And we split North 1 - 1 this year.

I saw the prelim, I was there, great win. But one win doesn't mean the monkey is off our back. And it wasn't our greatest win ever against North in round 3, we made it hard for ourselves. I was just wondering if maybe that was the reasoning behind the teams that we're playing down there.

That's great for Tassie! I think the Richmond pre-season game is a bonus. Tassie people will be able to farewell Richo in possibly his last season. Should be great fun.

At least 4 sell-outs there, with the West Coast game probably bringing in 15-18k.

As a Vic, I'm disappointed that we're not playing the Saints here. Would be an easy 50-60k. Playing Melbourne down there would have been a better proposition. Oh well, can't really argue with the arrangement but the Hawks must push hard for these games to be on FTA!!!

I must bow to the almighty dollar but this is gonna start to kill me - BIG games against rivals Saints and Norf and I can't see my boys live ... frustrating

Huh?

Not happy with playing Port Adelaide in Melbourne and Brisbane in Tasmania

We could pull 45-50,000 against the Lions in Melbourne

Our crowds could take a dip next year

If you rate games as:
1 - Blockbusters, ie: Collingwood, Essendon.

2 - Average drawing, Ie: Richmond, Saints

3 - Poor drawing, ie PA, North

I think it's a fair mix

2 x Average - Saints, Bris
2 x Poor - North, WC

It doesn't give away too much but still gives Tassie a couple of crowd interest games.

Yeah that's one example though Hawkk, and its from one perspective only.

From a playing perspective, I think it suits us playing Port in Melbourne, as they play Tasmania really well. I always feel it evens the game up when we play them in Tasmania, and think we'd be much better suited playing them at the MCG.

It is also very difficult for Brisbane and West Coast to travel to Tasmania and perform well, and we should have a clear home ground advantage over those two teams. St Kilda I reckon are shocking anywhere outside the Telstra Dome, so playing them on this ground will be very hard for them too.

So if you look at it that way, its a very good result for the club. I think we'll actually seen an increase in our figures this year, despite this one game.

I think its a pretty good mix, couple of average Victorian teams but still of interest to Tasmania, and making two interstate sides do the longest road trips going around.

Pretty good balance overall.

I agree with the Shreud one!

Anyone know all the MCG games we have - if we play Richmond/Essendon/Carlton there while they are still in the hunt we should get some bumper crowds.:)

Let's hope we break this year's crowd figures with people on the bandwagon from day one of the season!

North beat us there last time comfortably and saints used to play there before they gave their games to us..
