Example today of why he isn't captaincy material.

Captains don't give away 100metre penalties when the game's on the line.
The first fifty was an utter disgrace and makes a mockery of a so called elite sport. He did not move off the mark and he in no way infringed upon or held up the player with the ball. The fifty placed Hogan 25m put from goal so I'd almost support a hearty F U for such a blatantly insane decision.

When is the umpiring fraternity going to start using common bloody sense? If you umpire by the literal letter of the law , the whistle would be blown 200 times a game for minor but technically justifiable infringements

Umpire like it is the last five minutes of a close grand final with the exception of 2018 when a blatant infringement which did impede a player from contesting the ball was ignored by a coward who is still umpiring today.

He did not move off the mark
You might like to watch it again mate.
He clearly moved after the umpire told him to stand.
Our preference is to get ā€œoutside 5ā€.
However, if you are not quick enough to move you have to stand once directed to.

He didn't cross the mark. The don't move rule is as absurd as the protected area rule which was designed to stop the habit of holding up players who want to play on as was the stand rule. Yet in 99 percent of occasions when the fifty metre penalty is given, the player with the ball either had no idea the infringer was even there or was in no way prevented from playing on.
That is why I asked for common sense.
The rules are both insane and a blight on the game. It's simple. Was the player impeded or prevented from doing what he wanted to do by the illegal action of his opponent? If not then swallow your whistle even if a player happened to wander 20cm closer to the kicker than he is supposed to. If he directly impedes the players decision to play on- ping him

A light hand brushing ever so lightly across an opponent's shoulder should never be penalised as a high tackle either and usually isn't. That's called a commonsense application of the rules

Youā€™ve shifted the goal posts here, from didnā€™t move off the mark and did nothing wrong, to a lengthy rant about how you donā€™t like the rule.
Adams moved. He was in the wrong, those are the rules now, and players know it. Common sense says you donā€™t argue with the umpire when you know you ****ed up and give away a second 50, if youā€™re going to argue for common sense.

Umpire screamed at him to stand 3 times and instead he danced around like a headless chook, everyone knows thatā€™s 50ā€¦ then starts abusing the umps and gives away another 50 which put gws within 10 points of us and 4 minutes to goā€¦ extremely poor leadership from a senior player to lose their head in a pressure moment.

I think youā€™re being a bit too harsh there Kap.
Adams puts his body on the line every week.

Heart & soul player.

how about the protected area non-call for Noble near the end... actual contact by another player whilst trying to take his kick, no whistle

Pretty sure that the people who vote on the captaincy are more than able to get past an on-field indiscretion. Comfortable itā€™s only BF posters who hold those grudges.

I think umpires pick and choose when they enforce the ā€œstandā€ rule. Thereā€™s generally a lot of leniency and the allowance for the player to demonstrate whether heā€™s standing or retreating beyond 5m. Then theyā€™ll pull a penalty out of the hat thatā€™s inconsistent with how itā€™s been umpired across the rest of the game. Ditto the remonstrating. I thought theyā€™d moved beyond penalizing arms out if itā€™s not done in an aggressive manner. Can only assume he must have said something as well.

One indiscretion doesnā€™t counter all the other selfless acts he performs during a game or even week to week.

It does when its undisciplined and all the other acts are expected of every player in the team

He put the heat on the team with what he did on the weekend , for a senior player thats not good enough

That one was actually infuriating.

Why does it matter as long as you are jumping up and down on the mark and have not encroached by even a centimetre!

All they ever had to say was you cannot step sideways in either direction but you can wiggle your ears , raise your eyebrows or shrug your shoulders as long as you are on the mark

That is why it should be on the scrap heap along with the protected zone B S.
