Why does it matter as long as you are jumping up and down on the mark and have not encroached by even a centimetre!

All they ever had to say was you cannot step sideways in either direction but you can wiggle your ears , raise your eyebrows or shrug your shoulders as long as you are on the mark

That is why it should be on the scrap heap along with the protected zone B S.

Because he jumped up and down, then moved backwards, then sideways, then backwards again, all AFTER the umpire had told him to stay multiple times.

Why are you arguing this? Adams lost his head and ****ed up, badly, twice.

Don’t disagree that the “stand” should allow for jumping on the spot (although that likely weakens its enforcement) but it is inarguable that the rule itself hasn’t improved the game.

Makes for far more attacking football.

I loved the way Macrae dealt with Taylor after the event. The footage from the bench was priceless.
Taylor sitting there no doubt fuming about the penalty and his momentary lack of discipline.
Macrae moves toward the players on the bench and Taylor looks up either to state his case or apologise.
Macrae leans over to Ollie Henry and gives him some instructions and a pat on the shoulder. He makes the briefest of eye contact with Taylor then resumes his position. I think he knew exactly what Taylor was feeling ( a combination of anger, frustration and contrition) and left it there. Fantastic coaching.
I’m more and more impressed with Macrae as a straight out good ‘football coach’ along with his other attributes.
P.S. I thought that was Adam’s best game for the season by a stretch.

At the time I was thinking just stand still, he may not have heard but not an excuse these days. Pretty sure once Tay sees it he will understand, maybe just not in the moment.

No mention of the tackle on Adams that caused him concussion.

Haven't seen any footage in the media or discussion, but I was sitting right in front of it and it looked to be a dangerous tackle, looked to lift him up and then swung him down hard. Surprised it hasn't been spoken about, considering every other tackle causing concussion gets at least 7 days of airtime.

Wouldn't be expecting anything. Was a footy injury. Tackle swung Adams head into the knee of another player. Just bad luck.

Tackle didn't dump the head into the ground. It was bad luck as he connected with a bloke's knee.

Let me preface by saying I see a fit Adams in our 22, but with the Pies looking at Fiorini and Mitchell, do you believe they have concerns about Adams’ groin injury? It must make him feel a little nervous seeing the guys going out for both a long-term AND short-term inside midfielder to help with our clearance problems - whilst still holding JDG who does it as well as Adams now.

My main concerns for Adams is that he is one dimensional, and fear the end is near for him, as he doesn’t really have the right skills to play in any other role/position outside that inside, grunt midfielder.

Having just turned 29, after 2023/2024 (will be 31), where do we see him playing his best footy? Is he capable of fitting another role to remain in Collingwood’s best 22?

Pains me to even be talking about this as he is a heart and soul type of player and I can’t (don’t like to) see a Collingwood best 22 without him.

We are definitely planning for life without adams. All the better if he is fit and available.

I’m not convinced he’s that one dimensional, more that he’s only ever played as an inside mid at the Pies by reason of us not having many other ball winning mids during his tenure with the club.

Pending how much these injuries impact his ability to run, but I could potentially see Taylor being handy splitting his minutes forward and in midfield. Brilliant pressure player and will provide opportunities for creative forwards purely with his hunt and will. Has always been capable of punishing teams with opportunistic goals, and he is typically a good set shot. I think it’s worth a crack.

Absolutely agree with that view.

Not quite the speed of Elliott and McCreery, but he’s no slouch either. An absolute animal tackler similar to the above two mentioned, so can see how his pressure i50 would be useful.

Have to remember he’s 1.8m too, so he’s not exactly small, and would be hard to move in a 1 v 1 situation.

His field kicking can be an issue, but has never been that bad infront of goal from what I recall.

I was thinking that Adams would be 1 of the Happiest Players we had after we got Mitchell as means Adams does not need to do everything by himself.

Then I thought Mitchell be ahead of Adams in the Inside Mid Depth Chart

They will both play mate. Great combo that could deliver the flag.

Adams deserves way more respect then he gets on these boards.
He plays V Swans, Pies play in the GF this year and the very least deliver better than the trash the Swans dished up, at best we have flag.

Can't believe the hate he cops. Heart and soul, wants it more than anyone, and his kicking has got so much better since he first started. Still prone to the odd clamger but if effort won flags he'd have 10. My favourite.

Tay plays with his heart on his sleeve like Tony Shaw used to.

Far from the most skilled player going around but he has a heart the size of Phar Laps and it's all Collingwood.

I agree, some people have their best sides for 2023 without Adams included, if he's fit he plays every week, not a doubt about it

Definitely a bit of Tony Shaw how Adams Plays

Tay and Maynard are the heart and soul of this team.

Pies need Tay to win a flag and getting Mitchell will only help him and the work load.

Let's not forget Adams can be handy going forward, nice mark over head, great tackle pressure.

Needs to spend the entire off-season rehabbing and getting that groin fit.

Always seems to be pushing himself to get back early and it hasn’t worked the last few years.

Just turned 29, still has some quality football in him should he get a good run at it.

Hopefully Mitchell stays Fit/Injury Free so can ease the Pressure on Adams
