The BF 2004 Club Popularity Ladder

Well, this thread could die a quick and brutal death, but it is the off-season so its no biggie to try and fail...

We did this for NRL clubs on the World of Rugby League site in 2002 and more than 200 contributers led to a finding that Penrith was the most popular club across a broad cross-section of Rugby League fans.

The aim of the exercise is to simply provide a ladder from 1-16, with your favourite club at 1 and your least favourite at 16. An accumulated ladder will then be constructed scoring sides at 16 for every 1 position they get, 15 for every 2 position, and so on.

Clearly this will make it difficult for clubs like Collingwood & Essendon to get top spot, but finishing top is a secondary consideration to getting a broader overview of how fans view other clubs generally.

One could predict that the Western Bulldogs, despite having a limited support base, may be seen as innocuous enough by many supporters to clear enough high votes to get top billing, BUT it may be that enough opposition supporters resent them for regularly getting overt AFL support to keep them lower than expected...

Who knows.

Only ladders that position ALL 16 AFL sides will be counted on the cumulative table...
