Legend. If he can stay fit and play on until his 30's, he may even give Callaghan's appearance record a shake. He is already in the top 10 goal scorers for the club and closing in on the top 5.

Definitely a club legend, you can see his love for the club, it's great.

Would be be in your all time midfield?

Who would be in your side anyway? Kenny, Souness, Rush, Heighway, Lawrenson, Hansen, Keegan?

I would have him in, just because even though hes played when we have had a pretty unsuccessful period he basically carried us to two trophies(05,06) despite not having the greatest of teams around him. Was a joke he didn't finish higher in the player of the year in 05, should of won in my opinion.. even if it is a bias one.

Very unlikely to reach (or even get close) to Callagan's record (857 overall appearances, 640 in the league). He turns 32 in May and is still 297 games behind (240 in the league) - basically, he would need to play every single game for the next six seasons (including cup runs) to get there.

Carragher is "only" 179 appearances behind Callaghan (169 in the league) but he turns 34 in two weeks and isn't getting much of a chance at the moment.

It might be tough for him to get there. He has 566 appearances in all competitions and is chasing Callaghan's record of 857 in all competitions. That leaves him a little under 300. You play around 50 matches a year with decent cup runs and avoiding injury. So yeah 6 solid years would have him near 38. Be tough to get there. Depends how he goes with injuries and how good he still is as he gets older. He's a shot though.

Carragher will fall short id think, he is already kinda being phased out and is till 179 short. I think he could still make another 50-100 appearances for the club though.

Stevie is 9th all time for goals scored for the club too on 144. God is 5th all time with 183. I can Gerrard getting past him and into the top 5. Bit of a gap then to Liddell in 4th on 228 though.

I'd have him in for winning us our CL title and FA Cup title...true legend who was in the top 5 in the world at his peak

I think you're selling Gerrard a little short here. I think it's pretty clear that he is the second greatest player to ever play for the club behind King Kenny. By the time he is done, you'd have to put him first. He'd walk into the LFC all time team.

As for an all time team. It would be tough. Auto inclusions would have to be Rush, Dalglish, Gerrard, Barnes, Hansen... so many greats though, Lawrenson, Heighway, Hodgson, Carragher, Liddell, Hunt, Fowler, Souness, Keegan, Whelan, Kennedy, Callaghan, Aldridge, McManaman, Owen, Hyypia, St John, Chambers, Neal, Beardsley, Clemence, Hughes, Smith, Grobbelaar, Nicol, Yeats, Heskey... wait, wut?

How long have you guys being supporting LFC? Ive been a mad supporter since about 2000. I was more into basketball when I was kid and was a mad MJ fan but when he retired in 1998 and the NBL boom died in the late 90's. I lost interest slowly but surely in basketball. Then football emerged.

Can you guys put together an all time 11 with 7 subs since you have been supporting LFC.

I had a think about it and my 11 came out like this. I went with the trusty 4-2-3-1 formation.

Reina
Finnan Hyypia Agger Riise
Mascherano Alonso
Garcia Gerrard Suarez
Torres

Dudek, Carragher, Hamman, Murphy, Redknapp, Owen, Fowler.

Reina picks himself over Instanbul hero Dudek. Finnan gets the nod in a tough RB spot ahead of the likes of Arbeloa, Kelly and Johnson. CB was tough too. Hyypia was a certainty then I had to pick between Carragher, Agger and Henchoz for that other spot. Agger gets the nod for just being the flat out most naturally gifted defender. Carra makes the bench for his versatility. Henchoz misses out altogether. LB I thought was easy with Riise in front of Aurelio.

Midfield picked itself. Xabi and Masch protect the back 4 with Lucas' rise in the last few years not enough to get him onto the bench over the ever trusty German, Didi Hamman. Wide right has to be Luis Garcia, Gerrard in the hole and Suarez just has to be in the 11 so he plays wide left. Torres gets the nod as the lone frontman. Owen was also deadly but Torres has more to his bow, Fowler was on the decline when I started really getting into LFC.

The bench was tough. Were probably a little heavy on CM on the bench and could maybe lose Murphy or Redknapp for a more natural wide player like Kewell or Benayoun. Hamman has to make the bench, as does Carra. Owen despite being a **** is in and God has to make the bench.

A fair few players missed out altogether in Benayoun, Kewell, Skrtel, Aurelio, Johnson, Henchoz, Bellamy, Kuyt, Crouch, Lucas, Arbeloa, Riera etc...

I started supporting Liverpool probably in 2006. If it wasn't for the Kewell factor I'd be an Arsenal supporter. I only really started watching from 2008/09, but even then I wasn't watching that many games. Even now I'm still trying to learn tactics and how players can play in some positions but not others etc.

I reckon around 2004-05 I started supporting them.

My team since following them would have to be in a 4-3-1-2 formation:

Reina
Arbeloa-Agger-Hyypia-Riise
Alonso-Mascherano-Benayoun
Gerrard
Torres-Crouch

Subs: Dudek, Skrtel, Enrique, Luis Garcia, Kuyt, Hamann, Suarez

Around the 96 FA Cup run for me. The 4-3 Newcastle games were the cherry on top.

There's been some decent players over the journey, from the Spice Boy era, Redknapp was great to watch, shame he was always injured. McManaman as well, and I always had a soft spot for Berger and Collymore although Stan never really lived up to his talent. As for an 11..... sheesh

Reina
Babbel Hyppia Carragher Riise
Mascherano Xabi
McManaman Gerrard Garcia
Torres

Bench - Henchoz, Owen, Fowler, Hamman, Murphy, Dudek, Suarez

Up front, its a coin toss between Fowler and Nando, I only caught the final year or 2 of Ian Rush so its hard to make a case for him on that form. I always enjoyed watching Collymore and Emile play... but yeah theres no way they are ahead of those 3 :D

Man left back is hard, we've not had much talent there over the last 20 years or so.... and when the competition is Aurelio, Insua, Bjornebye (who unluckily as always injured), the second coming of Staunton and Phil Babb.

Right back is similarly hard, I really enjoyed the work of Babbel in the treble run in 2001, although a case could be made for Finnan as well.

Centre back, I was tossing up here between Henchoz and Carragher. You could make a case for Agger, but he hasnt really shown us his best yet imo.

The holding mids pick themselves, with an honorouble mention to Didi Hamman.

With this formation its a little tougher to pick further up the pitch, McManaman at his best was breath taking to watch, the goal against Celtic was always a fave of mine. Its impossible to leave Gerrard out, and to round of the trio I'd go for Luis Garcia, just ahead of Suarez - although give it a year or two and I'm hopeful I'd change my mind there :) Danny Murphy unlucky to miss out here, and I'd love to find a place on the bench for Smicer and Berger, but its just too hard.

Theres a few guys in there who could have been anything but for injury, Rob Jones and Redknapp in particular, and Babbel who was diagnosed with Guillan-Barre syndrome.

I find the three bolded points interesting. When we were talking about how good Fowler was a while back (I think it was for an EPL best XI or something), and you said to me I obviously hadn't seen him at his best. Now, based on his stats, his best form at Liverpool had come pre 2000, which leads me to the point that how do you know Fowler was THAT good if you started following football when he had played his best.

*Note, I am not trying to start anything, just thought it was interesting.

Crouch? Really? lol

Yep, some of the things he did for a big man were incredible, at his peak he was a force to be reckoned with. Not just scoring goals but lately I've been watching 2005-07 Liverpool games and I noticed just how many times Crouch put in a killer ball or did a flick that no one else could do, it's those little things that he did which made me put him in, as well as a finisher with a brilliant scissor kick.

I started following about the same time as you and I'd only make a few changes:

Reina
Finnan Hyypia Carragher Riise
Mascherano
Alonso Gerrard
Suarez
Torres Owen

Dudek, Henchoz, Arbeloa, Hamann, Garcia, Kuyt, Fowler

(That formation is purely the result of me picking my favourite 11 first, then trying to fit them into positions where Gerrard wouldn't whinge)

I've always rated Crouch pretty highly. He's a lot better than people give him credit for IMO. I think the fact that he looks a bit awkward and ungainly as well as the fact that he never stays at any one club for too long puts people off him, but he's actually got a good touch and very good skill (he's actually much better with his feet than with his head). 100 league goals and 22 in 42 appearances for England is a very decent record. Should get more respect IMO.

Like BlueBen said, he is a lot better than people think.

He scores goals, a massive aerial threat and like i said before, can make that last killer pass or creative touch. In his prime he was deadly, like that hat-trick and scoring crucial goals in CL games.

He seriously deserves more credit for what he contributed to Liverpool, a bunch of goals and a bunch of assists, he was very underated at Liverpool.

Crouch? Really? lol

One of the most honest footballers I've ever known is Crouch.

I remember watching an episode of Soccer AM when I was living in the UK one Saturday morning. On the way to an ad break they posed the question to a bunch of premier league players, "what would you be if you weren't a premier league footballer?"

Crouch's priceless response, "A virgin"

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Coates, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Gerrard, Kuyt. Subs: Aurelio, Carroll, Doni, Shelvey, Kelly, Flanagan, Bellamy.

Where's Agger? Would be surprised if we don't concede tonight.

Is Skrtl the name after Carragher?

Kuyt as the lone striker doesn't exactly scream goals either.

Mind you no one in our squad really screams goals at the moment.
