What is with us and failing to win at home or beat Stoke in a PL game?

I used to like Kuyt very much but he just turns it over too many times, hopefully Galatasary bids for him at a reasonable price and we need to get Carroll some confidence quickly.

Stick a fork in Kuyt, he's done.

4th choice striker in not superstar shock. Not really sure what people expect from him in all honesty. Its Carrolls fault hes being relied upon really. Even though he wasnt great Kuyt is the least of your problems atm. Can think of 5 more pressing concerns

1. No DCM
2. Kennys shithouse formation
3. No midfielder commiting forward besides Gerrard (which is why Shelvey is a must start next week)
4. No width whatsoever
5. No January spending

Nobody expects him to star but in the past, he'd usually pop up here and there with a goal. We're now over halfway through the season and he is yet to score a league goal (has one in the Carling Cup). Andy Carroll is copping it and rightly so but he has has two more league goals than Kuyt has.

Neither Kuyt nor Carroll are the problem per se but they are both part of the bigger problem (i.e. lack of goals). 24 league goals in 21 games is clearly the major problem at the Club and I don't see how it can really be argued otherwise.

Stating that as a issue is like saying Greece needs more money. It goes without saying really. We are past discussing it I would think. You will defend your way to a top 4 spot if you get it

Coledinho does make some very valid points.

1. We desperately need a DCM, even if it's on loan, we cannot expect Spearing to set the world on fire which he won't, we need a decent DCM on loan.

2. Yesterday was a prime example of a bad formation.

3. This! We can't rely on Gerrard to pull us out with his attacking runs from the midfield, all midfielders should do it, Downing is a bad one, he seems scared to dribble past a defender.

4. We need some good crossers, etc, out wide, we play too much inside and if we had a Mata, Hazard, they'd have some deadly crosses and can run past opp defenders on the outside.

5. We need to spend on some good players! We've been linked with hundreds but Kenny seems reluctant to buy due to our "great squad". Spending is needed to improve! And spending on English garbage isn't good enough.

We need to pull our heads out and get things sorted. We need to be beating lowly teams like Stoke and convincingly. We havn't had that for a few years.

If Newcastle beat QPR today Stoke will only be one position behind you in the standings.

I think theres a bit too much lifting for the big matches, and then not being able to lift for those matches against sides Liverpool consider are beneath them.

IMO they need to see someone like Stoke as a rival, that they will need to be at their best to beat.

How is Carroll and Kuyt not the problem? You say our lack of goals are the problem yet those are two blokes you expect goals from. Neither are scoring or even look like scoring. Bellamy and Suarez are our only real goal scoring threats outside of Steven Gerrard. Even those two arent scoring enough. Im hoping Suarez gets more goals with Gerrard in the side though.

There is nothing wrong with our defence, our passing, our linking up play, our creativity, our tackling etc etc.. our finishing is the problem. We have created SO many chances this season and yet we drop points. Yesterday wasnt a example of that as we were flat out horrible. But if we get our best players on the pitch which IMO, is this 11.

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Bellamy Henderson Lucas Downing
Gerrard
Suarez

Then surely we will get results. We do however still need to sell Carroll and bring in a striker who scores goals, not runs about doing nothing.

Get Downing outta there!

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique
Shelvey Lucas Gerrard
Maxi Suarez Bellamy

Lets be honest about this bloke. The ONLY reason he is starting over Jonjo Shelvey is because one cost 17 mill and the other 4-5 mill. Shelvey goes to the 2nd tier, has one of the best months of football you will ever see particularly in a area your lacking in (goal scoring midfielder), you bring him back to cover for a DCM supposedly and then proceed to ruin all his form and confidence by leaving him on the bench and giving him 2 minutes every 3 games.

Shelvey is more worthy of starting over Henderson particularly because he provides the one area you lack. GOALS FROM THE MIDFIELD. He did that in the second tier with aplum and is deserving of a chance to see if he can do that at Liverpool. One thing we do know is Henderson wont score goals from the midfield. Hes more of a creator in a forward role that you have Gerrard in at best and atm he should be on the bench. Heck Charlie Adam should be in the 11 ahead of him as even he is a bigger goal mouth threat.

What I am saying is that those two blokes are part of the bigger problem. Neither has scored anywhere close to enough goals but then the team in general has not produced enough goals. I have been saying all season that our lack of goalscoring power will cost us a Champions League place and there's no doubt that if we don't start scoring more goals, despite our impressive defensive record, we won't make the top 4.

Been that way ever since i can remember :thumbsdown::rolleyes:

Certainly have for a while now. I also think there is this underlying view that we should never lose at Anfield, where like we saw against Stoke we think defense first instead of thinking 'hey we have the better squad on paper, lets just outplay them'. I think if you look at teams like Chelsea, United and Arsenal in the last decade they tend to just throw everything at the weaker teams, they have their style and believe they can win with it, instead of adjusting for the opposition. At the end of the day I would rather take more points than worry about the odd loss, I mean manure have lost a couple at home but still have 6 more points at home than us.

Pretty much this.

Look at united over the years... even when playing lowly opposition they manage to lift themselves over the line because they play like the title is on the line every game.

At liverpool 3 points against Man U or Chelsea is apparently worth more than 3 points against Stoke.

i like the sow rumors seems like it's feasible to bring him in this month. i think it could be him and a winger and we'll see one man go out, dirk or maxi. sinclair seems like a smart player but i've only watched him play a handful of times, does he have an attacking or defending mentality? cos we know what hoilett is all about

I could live with Sow, not that I watch a lot of Ligue 1 but he scored a lot last season. Cole in as a swap obviously, not sure how much more they would expect on top of that.

Not even good enough for Adidas anymore.

In other news, the original plans for Stanley Park will go ahead.

"It is these proposals, which were put forward for planning permission in 2003 and given the green light a year later, which will become the blueprint for a new 60,000-seat stadium costing around £300 million. "
