It's almost funny. Bolton are in 19th and have a horrible home record. Yet we manage to lose 3-1. Ive completely given up on 4thn spot. I just want to finish 6th. I do however want to win the League Cup and try to progress as far as we can in the FA Cup. 2 games left before we might actually look like scoring.
 
Made myself a coffee before the game and still fell asleep after 10 minutes - good thing by the looks.

From the sounds of it I won't bother watching the replay either.

yeah I fell asleep before 4 but watched the first half this morning after checking the scores, couldn't bare to watch the second where Bolton make it 3 over us. we weren't even shocking from what I saw just didn't set up properly.. have to have at least Spearing in the side so someone is DM. as the commentator was saying Adam is useless when he is holding or sitting back, at least Gerrard is instrumental from back there. Carroll was not bad I recall four or five decent balls/flick ons from him, one resulted in the goal. I saw glimpses of how good he could be. Maxi looked disappointing but no doubt he is not happy with his little game time and can't just come in and be effective particularly when nobody around him is.
 
There were signs of what can happen if Carroll has someone up there near him. Bellers was the first bloke who's actually been near enough to receive headers from the man, and a few good thru balls. His touch was still off at times.

Defending on the first goal particularly was terrible, hopefully this pushes KK into buying another striker.. struggling to score and all we got on the bench is Kuyt. :eek:
 
I'm sick of Charlie ****ing Adam

If he thinks trying a few failed hollywood long passes then just sit around not track back or made shit tackles in dangerous areas is his go, then he can play elsewhere

Bolton played it beautifully, we have no Spearing and Lucas and the likes of Gerrard and especially Adam ain't gonna go cover the back four, so their midfielders run ahead of them and score.

This midfield is so incredibly clueless and rubbish. That Adam performance outstinks any of Poulsen's. Kenny's gotta wake up and stop setting up the midfield like that, the shape of the team was generally shit
 
Massive game this week. We just need this one to bring back some belief and positivity. Would be great to secure a trip to Wembley. City will be a large obstacle but would obviously love to get the result and then have a real chance at winning some silverware this season.
 
So will Super Mario appeal his suspension and be available for the CC semi?

Man we miss Lucas... On another note, just wondering what is happening with Martin Kelly, can't see any injury, been an unused sub 13 times this season, just out of favour? Pity really as his form last season was encouraging and he is a lot more steady defensively than Johnson.

Kelly hasn't done anything wrong, we've just had a settled defence which, on the whole, has been performing well. No need to change something that has been working for us.

Not long to go now.

I still think it's 50/50, they are a very good team and we are going to have to play really well to get through. It is harder to be confident after what happened at Bolton and the players' response will be interesting. Hopefully the crowd gets behind the boys as well, I'm sure the Kop will be in full voice.

Kenny was fairly critical of the team after Saturday so you would expect a few changes to the team. Would be good if Spearing was back as a player like him is important in these types of games, but I'm not sure as to his status.

Before someone asks, away-goals only apply after extra-time, so a 2-1/3-2 etc. loss after 90 minutes would see the tie go to extra-time and not us eliminated on away-goals. But if the score remained the same after extra-time, we would go out.
