LOL. Forlan would be cheap and available but there is no chance in living hell he would agree to a move without being guaranteed a position in the 11. Forlan would play for Wycombe Wanderers over Barcelona if it meant a starting spot and I doubt the same rule doesnt apply for Liverpool

Agreed, it's a pipe dream and not likely to happen

Laugh at the inclusion of Poulsen and Joe Cole. Doubt they'll play much. Same with Gerrard, will be injured most times. Aquaman might well be sold very soon as well

Don't actually leave us with much. Pass Raul, Adam, and Lucas, you gotta start hoping Spearing can continue his good run. Then it gets a bit thin from there

Jovanovic has a couple of options and will go (not even a midfielder but)
Poulsen will leave if he wants to play football, probably will too, has buyers it seems
Alberto seems like he's off to Fiorentina
Joe Cole will be impossible to move on so we'll file under 'mistake'
Maxi knows he is a squad player and doesn't mind either (Argentina quotes misleading)
Downing? come on

Raul
Adam
Steve
Lucas
Henderson
Spearing
Shelvey
plus Maxi, Joe, Coady (who will break in), Dirk'n'Downing

that's good stuff and we're going to need all of them. I have no idea how we're going to be playing this year - It'll largely depend on the fitness of Carroll and Gerrard I think because they have solidified best positions - others like Kuyt, Downing, Suarez will be everywhere and can adapt. they will have to under Dalglish anyway. he will keep even us guessing all the way I bet.

Aquilani would want his name as one of the first four but do you think that's realistic? He wouldn't be happy coming off the bench like the last three probably will and at 27 why would he. He also would probably prefer a starting XI spot rather than being told he has to fight for it. Then there's the fact he doesn't even wanna live in England.... it's just a shame it didn't work out because he would have looked awesome combining with Suarez.

Love that image. Came onto the board to post it, but too slow! :(

Just need one them to be about half size, although I suppose Spearing doesn't make the starting side.

We have so much selling to do. Watching tonights friendly, we have so much dead wood that needs to be sold. I cant even believe Degen still plays for us.

Degen, Insua, Poulsen, El Zhar, Jovanovic all must go. Utter tripe.

Another 3-0 loss this morning, this time away to Galatasaray. They might only be friendlies but it's still concerning that we've conceded three goals in each of our four pre-season games to date. I haven't seen the 3-0 losses to Hull or Galatasaray but it seems that we were well-beaten on each occasion. There are only two more matches before Sunderland on 13 August so we've got a fair bit of work to do!

Reina will make a difference, from what i've read a few of those goals were very stoppable.

The issue with the Sunderland game is the other two who will improve us most (Stevie and Suarez) may still be missing.

note to LFC: please fire every player on the field vs. Galatasaray, thanks.

Hate to say it but I think the great man will only be a bit player for us from now on. Still I hope we keep him around even if he is limited in what he can do, with a push to youth you can help these guys out heaps by having champions like Gerrard around the setup for a few more years. Still a big blow though... I am hearing though that Suarez is aiming to be ready for the Sunderland game so that is a massive positive.

yea i know wer ur coming from its shattering to see gerrard out. suarez should be ready for sunderland.

Why would Suarez not be ready for Sunderland? Gerrard will be alright, he has been pretty injury free the last few years except for the back end of last season. He is in no way a spent force and still our best and most influential player. Im expecting a big season from him, particularly with less workload given no European football.

Carra gotta be annoyed though, if he wants to make a run at Callaghan's record, it's no good losing 10-20 games a season through Euro games :D

I think the fee of Carroll has been done to death on how overpriced he was etc. im not worried about the fee he can score the goals the main worry is him being injured him out there with the players we have he will score. looking forward to him banging the goals and staying injury free hopefully.

Well, this morning's 3-3 friendly draw with Valerenga means that we have now conceded three goals in each of our five pre-season games...though we at least scored three this time.

Even with players playing different numbers of minutes, this defensive ineptitude is concerning with the season starting in less than two weeks.

Pretty strong lineup started this game, lots of them would be playing a few games this season. It was just Glen Johnson being absolutely terrible. Every attack from Valerenga came down his side and he got skint everytime

Carra wasn't much better, too slow.

Two blokes were very good though, Downing and Aquaman.

Our midfield was Downing, Adam and Spearing with Henderson just in front of those three. They have never played before. Valarenga we should be beating but you have to remember they are half way through there season. So there fitness will be at peak levels. Our start was disappointing. We conceded a soft goal. Then they were given one of the softest pens ive ever seen. We were much better after half time and came back well. Injury time stunner got them back to 3-3. Im not all that concerned. It's preseason, if were shipping goals come the proper stuff, then ill get worried.

Oh and Jova off to Anderlect. Yay!!

Surely Jose will cost more than 6mill? I'd be happy to get him at any price.

Jovanovic gone, possible Milan sized offer for Aqua and interest from QPR for Cole! could be a good week.
