Our defense isnt really a weakness when at full strength. Before Konate went down we were far and away the best defense in the league. Since he went down we started shipping goals left right and center but have just been scoring more thatn we let in.If our defence was at its peak and had solid depth the title race would already be over.
It is a (relative) weakness compared to the other areas. Let's just hope we don't get a VVD injury on top of the other absences.
He's in crazy form.As unbelievably well as Mo is playing, I still feel like he should be walking out of almost every match with a hat trick. He's been that dominant and it feels like maybe our best season for creating key passes for him.
It's not posing any issue though, given his numbers have been excellent and his creativity for assisting others so good.
I hope he can stay fresh and injury free in the second half of the season this time. Late last season, when he hit fitness/form issues we suffered.
It's ****ed because Mo they want to get done last cos they know they gonna have to pay him the most. They cant give Mo 350k then turn to VVD and TAA and offer like 220k. Cos they will know what Mo is getting...Mo comments about contract not great. Just ridiculous. He's the best player in the world right now, he's always fit. If it backfires and he's a spud year 3 I'm sure we'll get something for him still and most fans will be ok with it. TAA leaving would suck but not end of the world and he'll be ruining his own legacy so on him.
Losing Mo should see the owners go it would be that level of incompetence.
Hopefully Konate is back. It might work out ok because Gomez did not deserve to get dropped - he has been V goodAs for the game, smacked them. Was the easiest game we've had all season. Barely got out of 1st gear, could have scored 10, ended up with 5.
Only bummer was Joey G going down. But apparently Konate is just about back so that's good timing.

IMO they gotta go to the captain and say lets sort this out. Get Virg's done. Then go to Trent and offer similar money if not exactly the same but longer contract to the captain. Then with both of those done. Then go to Mo and offer above and beyond which he deserves anyways.
But it's like all three of them are playing chicken and the better Mo plays the more money he will want haha. He's on course for the Ballon D'Or at the minute haha
I am starting to think of this in golf terms - Liverpool is in a matchplay game with Arsenal and the score is 3 and 20. Good spot to be in - but not done.
Well Trent's strength is going forward, Robbo has declined and Konate missing games is something I've come to expect. He averaged 17 PL games the previous 3 seasons. Our defense isnt really a weakness when at full strength. Before Konate went down we were far and away the best defense in the league. Realistically we've probably seen off City and it would be surprising if Chelsea push to 85 points (I'm assuming we will end up on that barring an injury crisis). In fact to extend on the injury thing, technically we are still too early to guarantee anything. Imagine losing Salah, VVD, Grav, Mac and Jota for the season in January? It would be insanely lucky but you never know.I am starting to think of this in golf terms - Liverpool is in a matchplay game with Arsenal and the score is 3 and 20. Arsenal have dropped 18 points in 18 games - of the equivalent of 6 losses. If they repeat that - and with Saka out they might, then Liverpool can afford to lose 9 matches - which will not be happening.
It is still so bloody early though
You can if you're the best CB in world football and a generational RB. Should they be on the money Mo is on? No. But should they probably be on around 300k a week.Defenders & keepers are the lowest paid players in most teams, that's just reality.
A defender can't go into negotiations saying I want the same wages as one of if not the best attacking players currently in world football!
VVD is obviously still a great player but the reality is his best years are behind him. That's got to come in to consideration for a new contract. He was in the press saying he believes he can compete at his current level for another 3-4 seasons.
If that means VVD wants a 4 year deal well that isn't going to happen at Liverpool or any other top European club or even a Saudi oil money club for that matter.
Club should be aiming for at least 2 more seasons of world class football from both Virg & Mo. If they can keep it up for a 3rd season that's a bonus.

Yeah... id say so.
In simpler terms, we're not even halfway through our season yet.I am starting to think of this in golf terms - Liverpool is in a matchplay game with Arsenal and the score is 3 and 20. Good spot to be in - but not done.
