End of the day we can only all be accountable for our own feelings and actions. Personally I’ll be devastated if Trent leaves however at the end of the day he’s a human being who makes his own decisions and a person shouldn’t be hated just for making one decision that suits them at the time in their life.

The same happened with Geelong and Ablett Junior. For you guys, Adelaide and Dangerfield. It was hard to stomach and might have cost both clubs premierships in the 5 years that followed.

I know Danger still gets heckled every time he's in Adelaide (but Port supporters still seem more triggered) - I'm not sure if it's hatred but if it is, well he didnt leave the club after a decade or after success.

With Ablett he continued to get a heroes welcome despite it being most supporters biggest heartbreak - worse because he had those wasted years as the best in the comp when Geelong were still trying to win flags.

But yeah every situation is unique and every person has their own right to be hurt but respectful - or outright venomous - when these things happen.

All the mail is 2 year extensions for Mo & Virg.

If that's how it goes down I'm happy. Gives us 2 years to find successors and 2 more seasons of world class football.

That would soften the blow of Trent leaving, as despite their age, these two are still at an incredible peak right now. We need to go full back shopping in the summer anyway. But there is a 0% chance we could replace Salah or VVD and get anything even close to their output and influence over the next 2 seasons. If City's blip somehow extends, we need to maximise the silverware we can get or at least contend for with this group.

Carragher makes a lot of sense there. Trent perhaps trying to cover his ass by saying well you could have gotten a fee for me so please dont hate me.

Yep it's all political and basically shows TAA is full of shit after saying "none of my previous contract extensions have been played out in the media and this one won't either." The reason we've found out about it is because his representatives have leaked it.

Have we lost a big player on a free transfer recently?

I know we've lost some good players over the journey but it's felt like we used the funds generated to replace them at least adequately
Emre Can and Gini Wijnaldum come to mind but they were awhile ago.

Dammit I'm getting sucked into the transfer talks after swearing off it.

Changing subject - I've never been more confident of getting a result against the Mancs. Normally this means trouble but not this time. Hopefully we give the record 7-0 score line a shake.

The thing is we've had plenty of hints from Virg and Mo that they want to stay!

Nothing from Trent.

Conor Bradley is a jet - just sayin’

If TAA goes then so be it.
Yes i like CB, but TAA passes to other players are elite, that's sets up goals... Plus we need someone for backup? As our defence is good, but seems it's the part it's always injured and concerned on depth.
Plus also his leaving for $0, where a player at his class we should make of made big $$$

If Trent leaves then we have to trigger Frimpong's 34 mil clause immediately, just a no brainer replacement. Isn't he also home grown
Frimpong is more suited in a back 5, you don’t want him defending in a back 4.
Kinda has a point

The problem I have with this is we are not being compensated well enough if Trent left. 60mil for Zubimendi is a fine price. Also as mentioned before, our shortlist seems insanely small. It’s legit Zubimendi or we just stick with Endo.

We (the club) have saved plenty not increasing his wages 2 years ago and signing him to an extended contract. We most likely wouldn’t see the money used anyway…

Absolutely, only difference is Real Sociedad is never gonna win anything so there is that reason to leave your boyhood club.

Trent doesnt have that reason. Cos Liverpool win trophies regularly and are set to win plenty in the coming years. But yeah totally get it.

Zubi not coming was a blessing in disguise anyways, it unlocked Grav.

The reluctance too to give the wages out to Virg, TAA and Salah is ****ing dogshit by FSG.

We literally lost Matip and Thiago in the summer. Think Matip was on around 150 and Thiago I'd read was on similar to VVD which was 200-220?

Say 200 and that's 350k a week. The only incoming was Chiesa who's probs on not much. Doubt Chiesa would even be on 100k. But say he was on 100k.

That's 250k wiggle room.

So just give Mo 50k more to get him to 350k and give 100k each more to Trent and VVD which would take Virg to 320ish and Trent I think close to 300k.

And the wage bill would literally be the same?!

Only if it's a club option. Mo & Virg are world class but there's no way we should be relying on a 35 & 36 year old going into Season 2027/28.
Age is just a number. If they are still playing at a high level then why wouldnt we rely on them. Obviously when they get to that age we should go down the Milner route and offer one year deals year on year.

Virg himself has come and said he thinks he still has 4 years of top football in him and Mo is playing even better so who's to say he doesnt have 4 years left at the top too.

Think it's harder for attackers to stay at the top as they get older. Ronaldo had to leave to shittier leagues to still get that output he wanted for goals but Ronnie isnt a different player to Mo, can see Mo regressing goals wise but assists could go through the roof as he's becoming more and more of a playmaker.

But yeah I'd love a two year contract then see where both are at.

In two years time if Mo still has a 25 and 15 type season. I mean why wouldnt you sign him on again.

Plenty of water under the bridge though. We just need to at least get them tied down for two more years.

Pretty resigned to the fact TAA is off.
