OK, its better than I expected.

Also, I think we can take this as confirmation that Kingers will be a regular player again.

Good call.

Like the real lightning fork. have always thought there should be some pyro-technics happening between the light towers after a port goal. don't understand the triangle unless its the trinity thing God the Father - Russell, God the Son - Brett and still waiting, wishin' and a prayin' for the Holy Ghost.

I had to go to the AFL-PAFC site to check this out. Thought it was Porthos up to his graphic genius again.
Seriously. They cannot be serious.
Why is the mouth of the Murray meandering through a field of broken potshards? Some historical significance?
I'll learn to love it. It will freak out the opposition. But, what?
If the colour is anything like accurate, it's a very good teal. At least.
Yeah, the 29 is a touch of brilliance. Nice to see they're paying attention.

Well the lightning is good for the NT connection.....:D although it's a tame lightning bolt compared to the regular ones we get up here.

Was anyone here involved in any of the focus groups mentioned in the article on the site promoting it ?

here's part of the article from the club's site in regards to the background of the design.......click on the title to go to the full article.......

The CLASH has landed!

Power chief executive Brian Cunningham said a lot of research and time had gone into the new look.

“We’re really thrilled with what we’ve come up with as our clash guernsey and we’re confident our supporters will be too,” Cunningham said.

“Over the last 18 months, we’ve worked on it with Nike along with focus groups of adults, kids and teenagers from all walks of life.

“From research and those focus groups we’ve learned that teal is overwhelmingly the favourite of our four colours. It is a colour that has become distinctive to our club – it’s different, it’s fresh and we think it will continue to grow with the launch of this guernsey.

“The lightning bolt is now synonymous with our club, it’s in our logo and has featured on a previous guernsey, but never as lifelike as this and that adds another unique element to this guernsey.

“The silver element to it is very new – it’s one of our club colours but we haven’t had it on a guernsey before.

“We truly believe it is an exciting guernsey that our supporters will want to see and own for themselves.”
Nike Australia’s Team Sports Apparel spokesperson Campbell Davies explained the inspiration behind the design.

“When designing the Port Adelaide clash geurnsey, the inspiration came from an actual lightning bolt captured on film which reflects the power and strength of Port’s team spirit,” said Davies.

“The gradient background colour and contrast of the lightning bolt creates a dynamic visual whilst also adhering to the AFL’s quest for clubs to have a clash guernsey.

“We worked long and hard on this project together with the Port Adelaide players and management, and are extremely happy with the final piece.”

Its poor saps like you in Melbourne that will have to learn to love it. Muahahahaha.

I like to think that we're punishing Collingwood fans by making them pay to watch one of the ugliest guernseys available.

Another NT connection might be the resemblance (if you squint) to crocodile skin. Or teeth. Or something.

D'you reckon they're anticipating a move in the distant future? Will we wear this in Darwin to avoid a clash with the Bulldogs' strip?
:D

:D

Croc teeth would have looked better.........:D

This years game is only a one-off for Port up here as far as I have heard........it would be brilliant if we play up here against them for the next 3 years (which the Bulldogs have signed up for) but I won't believe that until I see it.

Be interesting to see if we do wear it up here......might be worth it for the novelty value anyway.

:D That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.

It's somewhat hypnotic, which could work in our favour.. kinda like a magic eye or something.

It's not what I expected which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps we'll team the teal socks with it?? A perfect way to bring it all together! ;)
