Watching the game between Geelong and Gold Coast at Kardinia Park, with the counting up clock and all I'm hearing is the Commentaters, mainly BT, doing nothing but complaining about it... I personally love it and would love to see it in every game, or even how Channel 10 used to do, have the counting down clock, then with 5mins to go, revert to the counting up clock.

My main reasoning behind this, is it gives the supporter at home a more gameday feel... imagine this if you would, you're sitting on the edge of your seat, your boys are down by 5 points in an epically close game, it's been back and forth all game, the ball is in your teams defensive 50, you look at the clock, there is only 10 seconds left, barring a huge turn of events you know your team has lost... but with a counting up clock, you will only notice it is really late in the quarter, and you still have a chance with a couple of clean possessions. I know it's only 10 seconds, but the difference in feeling and intensity is massive.

I think they should experiment with it... I remember watching the 2006 Grand Final, West Coast over Sydney by 1 point. I'm no Eagles supporter, but watching it in Perth with a couple of mates, not knowing how much time is left, 1 point in it, premiership on the line... there is no greater feeling then celebrating that triumph in the moment, the millisecond the sirens goes!

i reckon it's great, the 2010 drawn grand final would've been even better had there been a continuous clock because ya kinda knew it was gonna be a draw once collingwood got it out of their defensive 50

My theory as to why the count-up clock was on TV tonight is simple. No technical issues on 7's end, rather at Simonds Stadium.

I reckon with the new big screen down the other end they don't yet know how to obscure parts of the screen using a black box or something else, and because they have to use 7's feed but also have to display a count-up clock at the ground to all people, 7 were forced into using a count-up clock to appease Simonds Stadium and AFL protocol.

Adds so much to a close game in terms of suspense - rather than wondering if your team can score a goal in the remaining, say, 30 seconds, you wonder if your team can score a goal in whatever the slim amount of time left in the quarter is. Definitely better as a neutral viewer, but not being sure of when a game is going to end makes the dying seconds a whole lot more interesting.

Feed of the Countdown clock went out in Sydney game. Not just a Geelong issue.

Much rather the countdown clock, in a tight match at least you know what needs to be done within the given timeframe and whether it's a realistic chance or not. Didn't like that '5 minute warning' Channel 10 used to do.

Prefer the clock counting up at the games, but for some reason watching it on TV at home I prefer the countdown clock. Although I'm all for bringing back the 5 minute warning that Ch 10 used to do. Always made the ending to close matches that extra bit suspenseful
