This is as low as I've ever felt after a North supporter and it's not because we lost. To see about half our team pathetically chasing after a bigger, stronger footballer was hard to watch as it can get. Well gone are the days of Mickey Martin throwing James Hird around like a drag doll. Today, we are officially the laughing stock of the competition. What a shameful episode. I couldn't help but cheer for Barry Hall. Hopefully, we have reached the bottom of the barrel and it's all up from here. Sorry, but it had to be said. It was just awful. How the mighty have fallen.

You do realise that the Dogs are right in their premiership window, we are just starting on a journey back towards the top?
Of course they are bigger and stronger than us, we have a heap of kids playing. We can't just go and pick up a dozen Cooneys and Griffens and co.
And anyway, we are 4-5. Not that bad. Have a look at Richmond. THEY are the laughing stock, not us.

I totally agree with you.

I saw a father behind me walk out with his young son and never returned.

There were other people who have reserved seats walking out before half time.

Right from the very start Thommo was into Hall.

Yes he wanted to put him off his game but this wasn't in the interests of the game.

Yes Hall has anger problems but he is also human and most people on this forum would have also cracked under this sort of harassment.

Chin up, sunshine. There have been FAR more embarrassing losses over the past few years (Arch's last game, Port Adelaide R22 2008, Adelaide last year etc) than what we copped today.

We were shamed but there's no magic solution to some of the pretty big structural issues left by the Laidley era. All we can do is suck it up, look for the positives (however few from tonight) & look towards the future.

Who cares about size difference.

The reality is we can't kick a goal from 2 metres out and our kicking into inside
50 is woeful.

The depressing thing is this has been the case for years and certainly has not changed this year with Scott in charge.

Most people on this forum aren't paid professional footballers.

Most people on this forum don't deal with their anger by viciously assaulting people.

Hall is a completely turkey & no sympathy whatsoever.

It's alright mate don't worry we've got a few pretty physical blokes in there once they're all 25+ like the Dogs they'll bully teams don't worry about that. :thumbsu:

Hardness ain't gunna be our problem in the future. Ball use is where we got showed up time and again today. While we got belted by 11 odd goals, our average kicking for goal cost us dearly early.
Have no idea what the clearance comparison was, but we seemed to get our hands to the ball first only to cough it up with sloppy handball at blokes feet and kicks that missed the mark by miles.
Need some guys who are damaging by foot desperately IMO.

My point is not that wa lost badly. I saw loads of positive signs in our football. We just didn't kick staright early when we had our chances. On another day, we would have scored a few early and it would have been a different game. My problem was the look of our players like little puppy dogs trailing around after a clearly dominant player. It just looked weak. It didn't help our cause in any make, shape or form. If it hadn't have happened we would, most likely, have finished closer. It just served to demoralise us as a team. Now we'll have to put up with extra jibes from the media all week. It has already started on Before The Game. Talk about shooting ourself in the foot. So unecessary. Onwards and upwards, I suppose.

Ordinary post. I'll reserve judgment on the poster.

Alright, suck it up.

The dogs ARE bigger, stronger, fitter and as hard as it is to say....better!

The kids will get better, stop being so dramatic and seriously.....you're worried about jibes from the media????????

What are you on about?

The whole Thompson/Hall thing was the highlight of the night. It was hilarious!

My love for Scotty T has gone up 10 fold. Great stuff.

Get over yourself dude.

I'm 41 and seen the ups and downs across that time...believe me the majority of the 1980's were a waste of time...but then the joys of the 90's.

Its all cyclical, our turn will come again.

I would rather a flogging like today with a team of youngsters rather that the Laidley years (2006 anyone?) when we had a team of recycled hacks playing rubbish football.

Young teams like ours are gonna have ups and downs. It's all a part of becoming a good team....dont believe me? Go back to 1990-1991 and have a look who was playing.

Stay strong!

Go Roos

Sorry, 2 strikes, I'll be unreserving judgement on the poster.

HTFU

That's the highs & lows of football. We've been to the top. Thankfully we havn't gone to the depths like richmond.

We will rise again when these kids get games into them. We've just gotta ride it out (much like long suffering Bulldogs supporters have had to!)

You're missing my point. I don't care about Barry *** Hall. I don't care that we're not a strong bulked up team, That will come with time. I don't care that we were badly beaten today. We're a young team that will improve. We just shouldn't go around goading big blokes when it's blatently obvious that we are going to come off second best and look pathetic in the process. Anyway, I'll get over it. Tell me you can see my point. You must be able to. You've seen how North have played in the past.

This is a completely different team to the past.
It worries me that you are concerned about the thoughts of a bunch of pinheads on TV who consider Sam Lane a football "expert".
All good things come to those who wait.

Mate I remember a pre season flogging to Adelaide at the start of 1992...um like 141 points...come Tuesday we had no Coach and no hope. That's despair. That's the pits.

Young teams like ours will be inconsistent...week to week..within games...some of these kids haven't even hit 50 games yet but we are expecting them to upset the Dogs?

I'll be more pissed if by 2012 there isnt been an improvement. ATM I am satisfied we are on the right path.

I think if you threw Drew, MCintosh, and Hale in, things look up dont they?

gaso

When I read this thread I read it as a comment about the Hall incident not how the team played on the day.

Can the op please confirm whether this was their intention.

Agree with everything you say. I just think the farting around with Hall today was not a good move, that's all.

Yes, you're absolutely right. However, I'm going to bail out now because I think a lot of people are missing my point and the more I talk about it the more annoyed they'll get.
