Review The joke, the fools and the jester vs Suns

Hey, how have you been? :)
"shortened" = 16-minute quarters = 16 mins less playing time, thankfully. Mercifully.
I didn't realise 1st quarter was 25 mins. Are you sure? (btw, it was 2.7 to zip at quarter time).
I know, I was there! šŸ˜œ And yes, at least 25 minute first quarter. We couldnā€™t understand given thereā€™d only been one goal kicked (second goal was just before the siren).

There has to be some big internal problems at the club for these last 2 weeks, crows looked pretty good round 1.

When you still have the nucleus of side
Sloane
Crouch x2
O'Brien
Smith
Laird
Talia
Doedee
Kelly
Brown
Lynch

You expect more coming up against the sun's especially after last week.

Mcasey needs time, probably would have benefitted in the safl as he hasn't played against men until now, that's a big jump.

Questions need to be asked regarding recruiting and trading players. Why didn't they go hard for luko and Rankine the last two years? These guys won't want to come back now.

Jenkins is he a better fit at the crows then Tex?

Should they have kept Greenwood and traded the crouch's and got first rounders?

Why didn't they go with a mid first pick, that's there weakness and with no millera where is the midfield pace

How many will leave after this year and will they get much for any of them compared to last year.

The crows have been a super run club, but have badly dropped the ball from the start of 2018 till now

I suspect it has more to do with the horrendous delivery into the forward line. I saw tex and fog make countless leads today only to see the ball dropped on Murphyā€™s head. Wtf?

And much as I like Ned, maybe leave the getting up in everyoneā€™s face when youā€™ve got 2 possessions for the game
I agree with the spirit of this. He's all thrashing, rough-tough, snarling aggro when the ball is dead.
Ned, lift your game and play much, much better before you throw your (light)weight around.

On a positive note, we have played all top 8 teams so far.

Still yet to play fellow strugglers, including Richmond, GWS and the Eagles.

Should add Freo to that list.

And on the reverse of your positive note, are they in the 8 because theyā€™ve played us

Disagree. For someone who got the win, it is showing a lot of bitterness.
All said and done, he still wasn't worth a 4 year deal at the crows.

He's bitter because our football director, that sits on our board, decided to have a cheap pot shot at Greenwood in the media last week.

The laughably unprofessional behaviour of one of our administrators led to this

I thought it was aimed at the clubā€™s philosophies in general.

I.e. Greenwood would influence games for us but get dropped due to ā€œfitnessā€. Meanwhile DMac plays 200 non statistical games because by Christ he prepares well.
Yep

We don't value what's valuable and haven't for a long time

Fans can take some hope from the fact that Nicks is emphasising the need to grow in areas that the team lacks in, and that he is supporting our younger players to get game time.

This season is a write-off, which isn't on Nicks. It's a direct result of off-field mismanagement by people who were regarded as 'excellent' by those further up the chain in club leadership right up until an external review required basically a complete overhaul extremely late in the piece.

This has lead to the current coaching setup where we have cobbled together (to my knowledge):

- Head of Football, appointed mid-December last year
- a rookie senior coach, appointed in mid-October last year
- a rookie backline coach, appointed April 18 THIS year
- a midfield coach who has been at the club since 2018 - not exactly the height of our midfield success
- a forwards coach who is currently suspended
- Matthew Clarke as rucks coach

The amount of pressure that this places on Nicks is ridiculous, and an indictment on those who developed, oversaw, and continually promoted (in the face of reasonable criticism) the inadequate leaders that previously filled these roles.

I'm surprised people aren't more encouraged that we actually playing kids.

Well we made it nigh impossible not to, but hey its something different.
I think everyone is happy with that.

I just think no one expected just how poor our experienced players are

Hence why this season will and always be seen as an compromised and unfair season with an asterisk who ever win the premiership or wood spoon (hopefully us and the draft order stands).

Thank god we didnā€™t lock in a quality player for four years otherwise we wouldnā€™t have been able to show off the quality recruiting and list management that was on display today.

This could have been sorted with an honest club wide review. What we got was a massaged half cocked review that kept the real problem in positions of power. If your gonna do something at least do it right. Sums up the club. The most dishonest club going around.

I didn't have any issues with him leaving but for Roo to have the audacity to potshot former players, he had every right to give it back.

There are 7 players in the 22 worth being excited about

Fogarty, Jones, McHenry, McAsey, Doedee, O'Brien, Hamill

Two senior guys playing ok; Talia, Brown.

The rest are either on the wane (Lynch, Sloane, Walker), inexplicably fallen off a cliff (Smith, Laird, Crouch, Crouch, Seedsman) or are mid-range plodders (Kelly, Murphy, Keays, Crocker, Atkins).

Is 7 + 2 enough given that we're so far off the contending clubs? If we're this far off the pace you may as well play a few more.

That wasnt your point. You said it was elite from Greenwood. Thats what I disputed.

I understand this bigfooty is full of twisted points to meet peoples agendas, call Roo what you like, but my point is Hugh is not sounding Elite! He sounds bitter, and even after tonight I wouldnt offer him a 4 year deal. Enjoy tonight Hugh, but you arent playing rd 1 2021.

For the record, I dont believe Roo had a cheap pot shot, it wasnt anything that we haven't said ourselves here.

You are normally someone I agree with alot, even if I dont post often, but I think you are biased on this call.

He said it as a media expert football commentator and not as a football director and used information that the public already knew....how hard is it for people to understand is beyond me?????

Blighty didnā€™t have a dozen assistant coaches and he went okay.

The drop off in our senior players has been unbelievable.

But I thought AA made a good point. In '17 pretty much all of our squad had their best seasons.

I will say, I reckon the Crouches are copping unfair critiscm.

It is totally unacceptable for a person in his position to be making those statements
