Toast The New Carlton Thread: inexperienced Collingwood winger to rule Carlton (safe space for Blues' fans who aren't soft utensils)

Yeah not bad.

Had way more material to work with than what he used. Carlton have been rubbish for 2 decades, it’s not just about Walsh, Curnow, Cripps and Vossy.

What about Chris Judd? And Fev? and Bootsma? And Brittain? And Kade Simpson - he was a decent player but holds the AFL record for playing in the most losses.

Fact - not that I care...

Fev drove Wayne Brittain nuts...

Whatever name... my sentiment remains

What do you call Marvel Stadium - Telstra Dome? Colonial, Etihad .....????

The non-branded name it would revert to if there wasn't a naming sponsor is Docklands Stadium , but yeah........I just call it whatever it happens to be at the time.

Isn’t that the whole point of sponsorship?
Yes. They get more than they deserve. Why does the general public go along with it. We're not getting paid. We do we choose to promote the sponsor by calling an historical venue after the sponsor.

That one is hard to throw off. I have to think for a while before I come up with Southern Cross.

I’m guessing that was some marketing politician type deciding that “Spencer St” was unbefitting as a name of an interstate travel terminal …

… but that seems a bit silly, because having it named “Spencer St” just seemed like a very Melbourne thing. If the current government decided to put back to Spencer St, I can’t imagine too many would object, and those that did would be because of the expense.

Another thing to do would be to rename to something honorary. As was done with Corporation Lane -> ACDC lane.

So maybe they could rename Southern Cross Station to “Sir Les Patterson Station” or something.

Southern Cross.......

the station with an "award winning roof" (traps diesel fumes underneath but not water on top 😞) and a "sub-optimal" train service on the ground

carry on Victoria
