Toast The New Carlton Thread: Lukey Sayers adds his utensil to the wooden spoons

Momentum means a lot I think, especially given how healthy our list is. I reckon we'll do a bit of experimentation to try and find the best positions for people, who to use as the sub, and that kind of thing (like we've seen with Mitchell recently), but we won't be taking anything lightly I reckon
Agree, absolutely we won't take anything lightly

But as you say, if we experiment on a few things, learn from those experimentations, and we drop a game or two between now and the finals but come out the other end knowing more about ourselves (and our opposition), is that the end of the world?

Not the end of the world, no. I just don't think we'll drop any besides maybe the Lions @ Marvel (so stupid that we play them there!).

Apart from momentum, the Pies don't have a whole lot to play for on Friday night.

It would be very much a Carlton thing to do if they knocked off Collingwood on Friday night, but then only won 1 of their last 4 games to miss the finals...
Until we are guaranteed top 2 we have a lot to play for tbh

Weird thing that I've noticed this season:

When port fans were on a 10+ win streak, the majority of them were pessimistic
"We'll probably lose next game, we're not playing that well, we're due for a loss"

Carlton fans, after 5 wins, 4 of them against questionable opposition, are carrying on like they're the greatest team of all time and that everyone should fear them making the finals

I don't understand how they can be so confident after such a long history of mediocrity... Is it a mental illness? Low intellect? Or are they so desperate for hope that at the sign of the faintest glimmer, they clutch it tightly within their delusional grasp in a futile attempt to prevent it inevitably slipping through their fingers into the well of misery that is Carlton

Reason Port fans are pessimistic after 10 wins is that it gets harder to sack Hinkley.

Are there supporters any more fairweather than Carlton's?

Weren't they spitting on players, yelling abuse and cutting up memberships not too long ago?
I can think of two: Melbourne win that dubious title, with Richmond No.2. Carlton supporters have largely stuck with their team, considering their recent history.

Melbourne supporters don't turn up regardless how successful they are...😆

Richmond supporters are just a mean, nasty bitter bunch to everyone despite their success.

But the way Blues fans were carrying on up until the past few weeks was vile.

Jinx schminx

This thread is good for the soul, and nothing posted in here makes any difference to football outcomes.

Fans behaving like arrogant dicks hasn’t hurt other successful clubs, e.g. Richmond.

Carlton outplayed, out-coached and out-everythinged us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take the piss out of them in this thread.

Agree with the second part, though jinxs and superstitions are just for fun.

Second part not so sure cause Carlton have some great players and it won’t be good for the soul if it bites us in the ass. Personally I’ll like to wait until we win to gloat, but hey it’s up to you guys, I can alway ignore the thread.

We should never gloat - it's unbecoming and just draws negative attention towards the club and its supporters.

Carlton aren't the main threat this season, and haven't been for 30 years. Focussing on them only diminishes us.

The only time there should be any gloating (if ever), is when we've won the flag. Until then, gloating or bravado just sets us up for a failure that the majority of the AFL-world is just waiting, nay praying, to happen.

The reactions from a lot of Carlton fans last night was embarrassing and will look particularly stupid if they fail to win it all now.

Agree although as fans we should never gloat. Sometimes makes me cringe reading crap from our own supporters let alone other chumps.

Why the * do we have a Carlton dedicated thread?????????????????????

isn't 7/9 goals from frees for Curnow against us this year enough?????????????

I wanted to set up a thread dedicated to Christian fellowship

This was all I could manage
