2024 Draft Order // 2025 Provisional Draft Order

Today is the big day fellow AFL enthusiasts and since in the past this thread has not been created until the AFL draft had actually already begun I thought it would be a good idea to get in now so it is here for everyone.

and I will leave this gem from Jake Niall from years ago on what clubs will say at the end of the draft and what it actually means.

"Outside player with good pace'' - a receiver, won't go in.

"He's a real athlete'' - played mostly basketball or soccer. No idea about footy.

"Quick hands/great vision/has footy smarts'' - slow.

"We can't believe we got him at pick 42'' - We haven't seen the X-rays or spoken to his parole officer.

"He's an elusive type'' - absolutely terrified.

"Great goal sense'' - never handballed in his life.

"He's a burst player'' - has only one burst, no endurance.

"Has skills, needs to work on his fitness'' - will be a blimp before the season's end.

"He has a great upside'' - he has even greater downside.

"Tremendous work ethic and a great competitor'' - no skills.

"Solid citizen, from a good family'' - private schoolboy.

"Natural forward'' - never tackled, shepherded or manned up.

"Raking left-foot kick'' - a dud on his right.

"Suited to a tagging role'' - can't play.

"He will add to our depth'' - can't play.

"He's a bit of a punt, but we needed a third ruckman'' - can't play.

"He's the outside class" - afraid of getting hurt and may or may not be a terrible kick.

I predict every recruiter will be extremely happy with their draft haul and surprised such good players slid down the draft board.

Would give anything for a recruiter to just say "yeah look the ones we wanted were all gone, taking a punt on this one because he has a cool-sounding name, likely to be a crab or spud but what do you expect for pick 112"

If Ashcroft doesn't go 1 or 2 there should be an investigation. Clearly at the very top of the board. Can't see why clubs wouldn't make F/S selections cost more. North were stupid to take JHF and not put a bid on Daicos. Every numpty in the land could see he was the best player that year and that is how it has turned out.

You have to get your father son while your at the bottom of the ladder to have any chance of an early bid, gotta be in the same premiership window as the teams with the high picks or they wont bother bidding. its why the higher up the ladder you are the cheaper the gun F/S will be. It's a shitty system.

If the draft stays true to Cals current Mock Tigers have had an absolute screamer.

Obviously things don’t always go to plan and mocks aren’t 100% but man masterclass if true

Picks
Lalor, Smie, Allen, Shanahan, Dattoli, Whitlock (Def), Alger and Trainer

2 potentially elite big mids
So 3 defenders midsize or larger
Best KPF prospect in the draft and two top 30 SFs

Pick 1 gets 20k. I can understand a club wanting their own player to get that money, but I absolutely agree pick 2 should be where you choose the father son player.

who is winning?
