Breaking News:
Pieman stewards have opened an inquiry into a late plunge on a WB outsider. They refused to comment on suggestions that a certain punter known in both Melbourne and Perth rings is at the centre of their investigation.

Full results shortly. A few big scores tonight!
Meanwhile here are the most popular picks after inclusion of carryover teams and Pieman subs (of which there were quite a few). West as #1 sub option leapfrogged the people's choice Sam Darcy. VDM also ended up being sub in a few teams too, hence his larger-than-usual number of picks.

PIEMAN RESULTS RD 6 vs ST KILDA

They say a week is a long time in politics. And so it is in footy. The smiles are back on our faces, at least for another week.

Some big scores racked up tonight. Probably the highest scoring Pieman round of the year. Our 19 goals also topped the 18 we kicked against the Suns in Round 2. And isn't it nice to see some good conversion for a change!

Carryover Teams and Pieman Substitutes

There were only seven carryover teams but they led to a lot of subs. Every one of them needed patching up. There were 15 Pieman subs needed tonight.

Note that Sanders was the WB sub so he could not be picked in a Pieman team. Anyone who had Sanders got a Pieman sub instead.

The ones with an asterisk were not carryover teams:
  • Buckingham - West (14) in for JUH
  • * Bulldog Muscle - VDM (0) for Sanders
  • cecil - 2x West (28) in for 2x JUH, Naughton (66) in for Libba ... Cec did pretty well there!
  • charcoalchicken - VDM (0) for Sanders, Darcy (11) for JUH
  • Fossie 32 - West (14) for JUH, VDM (0) for Sanders
  • Snarls Barkley - 2x West (28) for Sanders, VDM (0) for JUH
  • TempletonTheRat - Naughton (66) for Sanders ... nice one TTR
  • * theAthenian - Naughton (66) for JUH ... you left a week too soon mate!
  • weltschmerz - West (14) for JUH
A reminder that teams who got a sub this week will retain that player next week (if they are a carryover team again) even if the player they originally had returns to the side. If you don't like that you can always override it by selecting your preferred team - just post it here before the first bounce.

The KELVIN

A lot of people had big enough scores to win the Kelvin most weeks. Kermit 's 243 for instance would have won the Kelvin in any of the first 5 rounds. But not this one, alas. That honour went to X_box_X (249). Tied for third were Floridog (238) and Vinegar Mess (238). Honourable mentions to Buckingham, LordC and theAthenian who tied for 5th on 224 and TempletonTheRat (215) who also cracked 200.

There were NINE chumps this week - the first eight place-getters and also Dannnnnnnnnn whose almost-random team scored him 137 pts but only 15th place in the Kelvin.

The average score this week was 116.77 and the median was 109. So if you didn't get 109 points you were probably going backwards on the Pieman ladder.

The PIEMAN
chez_ferret (756) who has been leading the comp all year conceded a huge amount of ground to the chasers but still holds a 17 point lead over Buckingham (739) who was one of the big movers this week. In fact seven of the eight teams who scored over 200 this week are now in the top 10 for the season. Bulldog rick (712) is in third. X_box_x is the only past winner in the top 10 after TiAn_ stumbled badly. This was not the week to be recording a bagel!

Pieman Player of the Week

Fittingly it was Aaron Naughton who was PPotW with his 6 goals. And Bont was a respectable second with his 3 majors.

The highest possible score this week was a chump of Naughton+Bont+Dale+Macrae+Weightman for a base score of 207 and a chump bonus of 82 giving a total of 289.

The highest possible non-chump score was not far behind: 282 for having a 3x Naughton and 2x Bont.

Pieman Player of the Year
Weightman (160) clings to the PPotY lead by the most slender of margins from Bont (159) and then Naughton (126). Fittingly these three lead the club's goalkicking after 6 rounds.
