Welcome to the SuperQoach Draft. Here is where the participating Captains will choose the majority of their team through a Draft.

The way this will work is:

Each team will consist of EIGHT players. This will be made up of the Captain, their 4 Draft selections, and 3 random allocations.

There will be four rounds of the draft. I have randomised the list of Captains below. This will be the order for the First and Third rounds of the Draft. For the Second and Fourth rounds, the order will be REVERSED. I will post the new draft order in this spot at the beginning of each round.

ROOKIE DRAFT Wednesday January 18
When the draft has been concluded, all Captains may take an opportunity to add ONE rookie to their team. These are players who have been added to a SFA list in the off-season.

This Draft will run for ONE DAY ONLY, commencing at 9 am Melbourne time on Wednesday January 18th and finishing at 10pm.

There will not be any draft order – it will be on a first post gets the player basis. At 10 pm Tuesday, this draft will close off, and then I will complete all teams by random allocation.

The Rookie must come from the Rookie Pool in the OP, and may NOT be from the same SFA team as yourself. Each rookie is only available once, and will be taken out of the pool when selected.

So if you would prefer to have some further control over your team selection, I will give all captains this chance to select ONE SFA rookie from a rival SFA club to fill the sixth spot on your roster. If you would rather take your chances on the random allocations to complete your list, that is fine. Just don’t select a rookie. However, if you have seen or heard of any of these guys and think they could command a decent field spot with their team, all you need to do is name them in this thread by the end of tomorrow, before anyone else takes them, and they're yours. Try to tag them, so that they know that they are included in the game and feel welcome.

The OP will be updated with the Rookie Pool and will be kept as accurate as possible. As rookies are selected by captains, they will be removed from the main pool, and the SuperQoach captain's name will be edited into the Rookie draft pool.

When this is finished at 10 pm Wednesday, I will randomise the remaining available players from the main draft and the Rookie Draft, and place them in your teams. From the randomised list, player #1 will go to the alphabetically first captain’s team, player #2 to the second and so on until all teams are complete. If a player is ineligible for the team they are assigned to (due to that Captain already having that player on his list OR due to the maximum home SFA team limits being reached), then the player will go to the next eligible Captain, and the Captain who missed out will receive the next player on the list.


The Draft Times are from 8am Melbourne time until 12am Melbourne time every day until the Draft is complete. No-one expects to be up all night to make their selection. However, if your turn comes up during this time, you are welcome to select - it's just that your exclusive period will not expire while you sleep.

Starting with the first Captain on the list, I will ask you to select an available player from the Draft Pool, by naming the player and either bolding the name, or by naming them and tagging me. To complete the post, please then tag the next Captain on the list to advise him that they may enter the draft. Each tagged Captain will have a MAXIMUM of 2 hours from when they are tagged into the Draft to make their selection. If they do not make a selection within this time frame, the next person in line may enter the draft. If a Captain misses their choice in this way, they may still jump in at any time before the round is completed and make their selection, however they have lost their exclusive rights to players who would have been available at their original selection time.

At the end of each round of the Draft, there will be a LULL period of one day, to allow any Captains who missed their turn to make a selection. If a Captain has still not made a selection in this time – too bad! They miss out, and their selection will be made in the random allocations at the end. We will then move on to the next round of the Draft, where the order will be reversed. I will post the new draft order at the beginning of each round.

After FOUR rounds, the draft will be finished. Theoretically, each captain will have 5 players on their list - themselves plus their 4 selections. To complete team lists, I will then randomise all the remaining players in the Draft Pool and assign them to each Captain to complete their lists. The completed team lists will be published in the next thread in this saga, the SUPERQOACH Teams, Scorecards and Challenges Thread. The leftover players will remain in the Draft Pool for the Captains to exchange into their teams for unwanted players when the draft is complete.

So each Captain will end up with themselves, four chosen players and 3 assigned players on their team. They may, of course, then negotiate with other Captains in the SUPERQOACH Teams, Scorecards and Challenges Thread (which will soon be posted) to trade players between teams, or may delist a player and replace them with an available player from the Draft Pool in the Teams and Scores Thread.

Below is the Draft Pool. These are all of the SFA players who received at least ONE DT point during SFA S22. Their S22 DT averages are also shown. I have added in the known Rookie signings and activated players, and removed the delisted and retired players. Should anyone believe that a player who is not listed should be in the Pool, please advise me.

You may notice that, initially, every player is listed in the Draft Pool twice, due to the number of Captains who are playing. Each player may be selected TWICE, by different Captains. Captains may not select any player twice in the same team.

I will be as vigilant as possible in taking players out of the pool when they become unavailable, but if a Captain selects a player whom a preceding Captain has selected and who should have been removed from the pool, that selection will not go through, and the Captain will be asked to reselect. As rookies and returning players are signed to teams for S23, they will also be added to the Draft Pool. They will become available for signing only after they have been added to the draft pool and announced in the thread, on a first come, first served basis.

RULES:

  • Ant Bear MUST be taken in the first round or the whole shebang is OFF!!!
  • You may only select a player once. Do not select yourself – you are already on your team.
  • You may only select a maximum of 2 players from your own SFA club.
  • If you miss your exclusive draft period of 2 hours, you may make your selection at any time before the round is finished. If you do not, you will receive a random allocation at the end.
A valid selection post must include the name of the selected player (either bolded or with a tag to me) and must include a tag for the next Captain. This will be acknowledged by a “like” from me. If you fail to do this, don’t complain when you get the dregs at the end! Please note that you cannot edit a tag into a post – it does not notify the tagged person. If you post your selection without the tag, to validate it you must re-post it with the tag.

The next stage of the game will be posted after the fourth round of the draft, and after the random allocations are done. This will be the thread where team lists are kept, and where you may trade players and make list changes.
To help you with forward planning, here is a draft of the rules. This may change slightly, and be prettied up, but you get the idea...

The SUPERQOACH Teams, Scorecards and Challenges Thread

Here is where Qooty Fantasy Captains may make changes to their teams, either by TRADING with another Captain, or by DELISTING one of their players and SIGNING an available player from the DRAFT POOL. All current teams are listed below, and will be regularly updated. Every week, a ladder will be posted to show everyone’s score for the round, and their overall total.

Below are all the teams as selected by the Captains and topped up with allocated players. Don’t like your allocation? Trade him. Find some other sucker with even less knowledge of the SFA than yourself and offload your spud for their stud. No-one dumb enough to trade with you? In the Draft Pool, you’ll find a list of all the undrafted players. Dive into the pool and find a gem amongst the discards.



Rules, rules, rules.

From now until the beginning of Season 23, you may make UNLIMITED TRADES with other captains. However, you are limited to a maximum of TWO delisting/signings. The beginning of the season will be defined as the day that the first Match Threads are posted for S23.

Once S23 begins, you may then make only ONE list change of each type every week (ie a maximum of one trade and one delist/sign). The trading window in-season will be from immediately after the
Scorecards are posted from the previous round, until11.59pm Melbourne time on the Saturday night before the Games are played.

For a TRADE to be valid, both captains must agree, and both must tag me with the details of the trade (eg Captain A posts: “Trade player X for Player Y from Captain B. Ant Bear”. Then Captain B posts: “Trading Player Y for Player X from Captain A. Ant Bear”. = CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve made a successful trade!)

To Delist and sign a player, the procedure is much simpler. All the Captain needs to do is decide on who he wants to sign from the Draft Pool, then post the delisted player and the signed player as well as tagging me (eg Delist Player X. Sign Player y. Ant Bear). In a rule change from last season, Captains may delist themselves.

Trades may be declined if these rules are not followed. All list changes are final and cannot be cancelled.

The other rules of the game are still in play. You may only have yourself and two other players from your own SFA club on your team. Should a SFA player transfer from one club to another, causing you to break this rule, you will be advised by me and given a free list change. If one of your players retires or quits, you may replace them as one of your weekly list changes – you will not get a free swap for them. And you still may only have any player on your team once.

SCORECARDS: The Green scorecards will be posted in here on Sunday nights or Mondays. These are file downloads, and as such any changes to teams will not appear until the following week. ALWAYS REFER TO THE TEAM LISTS ABOVE FOR CURRENT TEAMS. Along with the scorecards, the weekly rankings ladder, and the overall Rankings ladder will be posted.

CHALLENGES: In another change from last season, this thread will be the one-stop home for SuperQoach. All Challenges will be issued and accepted in here. This season, the DON and HOHA Challenges will be replaced by STEAL Challenges. Whereas a successful challenge last season allowed players to double their own teams' total score, this season a successful STEAL Challenge will result in the opponent's score being added onto your own round score. (So if Captain A and Captain B agree to a STEAL Challenge, and Captain A's team scores 500 but is beaten by Captain B's team with 550, then Captain B's score for the round will be 1050, and Captain A will get zero)

To enter into a STEAL Challenge, both Captains must agree, and tag me in their challenge posts. Captains may not challenge the same captain in consecutive weeks, and once agreed, a Challenge may not be cancelled.

FINALS: The Finals Series will start after the end of Round 14 of SFA S23. This season's Finals Series will be a 28 team finals, with the top 4 teams at the end of the regular season having an automatic passage into the second round of Finals. In the first SuperQoach Finals week, there will be 12 Sudden Death matches, with the 5th placed team matched up against the 28th placed team; the 6th team against 27th place etc, with the top 4 moving directly into the Round of 16. ALL FINALS ARE ELIMINATION MATCHES. The Semi Finals and Grand Final of the SuperQoach will be played in the first 2 weeks of the SFA finals series, and will therefore require a new draft to happen. Further details to come, but it will be similar if not identical to last season.

For those at the tail end of the list... Hate Elton Johns Wig burningdwarf Smartys Power ...remember that this is a four round draft that runs in alternating forward and reverse order. So Hate, for example, has pick#40, then pick #41, and will actually be the first player to complete his selections.
Far Kern , although you have the first selection, that also means that you have the last selection as well.

Not really.
Every player is available twice, so you theoretically should get to choose the second-best player at their club with #33. Then you get picks #48, #113 and #128. If you had pick #2, your second rounder would be at #79 and your fourth-rounder at #159

You may choose either at 10am Melbourne time, or when Far Kern tags you after making his choice.
