Another safety car. Sainz and Albon bumping wheels. Perez knackered his rear wing in a separate incident.

Saved ammunition for the race.Just caught up with qualifying.
So came on here with great expectations.
To say I’m extremely disappointed is an understatement.
Where the hell is the pasta gun?
Imagine missing out on Q3 with both cars while having fresh sets of softs sitting in the garage.
Worthy of pasta gun times 2.
strange call given they boxed him 1st for drys, basically set him up to play rear gunner to ensure lando finished p2McLaren well and truly ****ed Oscar. Not sure why they didn't pit one of them when Mercedes did.
That's not completely fair. He got out of that train through a legitimate overtake and made 3 overtakes on track (not relating to crashes or pitting). That's as many as anyone else in that midfield group.Dan seems to be forever getting stuck behind drivers, in DRS range, and just sits behind them for lap after lap and it's usually seems to be a HAAS.
Happened again today early on (with no DRS) when the HAAS were on full wets with the rest of the field on inters. Once the advantage of the wets had gone, I reckon Dan must have lost 10 secs in 3 or so laps. He's either lost his dare for the overtake or even with DRS the car just isn't quick enough or Dan's not quick enough.
Later in the race there was a DRS train with Dan 2nd in line unable to execute an overtake. In the end it was crashes that got him in the points.
He did himself no favours with the false start, with the 5 second penalty putting him back in the pack. That's not completely fair. Sky sports only showed 1 overtake (of Magnusson) but that doesn't mean they didn't happen.
He did get stuck in the train a little longer than he should have but he did make the overtake and others behind him struggled to get out of it too.
Aside from the first 2 corners (where Tsunoda also dropped) he drove pretty well I thought, holding position and gapping Stroll before getting unlucky with the safety car, costing him about 6 places. Fought his way back, took 2-3 positions on track (and the other 2-3 through DNFs).
The role played by Piastri in keeping the Mercedes at bay in the latter part of the race cannot be under-stated. It's what secured the podium place for Lando.strange call given they boxed him 1st for drys, basically set him up to play rear gunner to ensure lando finished p2
How do you figure that? if McLaren pit Piastri for a new set of softs then he can race for the win. Leaving him out on old mediums set him up to lose out to both Mercedes. A double podium was lost and Piastri once again on the wrong end of itThe role played by Piastri in keeping the Mercedes at bay in the latter part of the race cannot be under-stated. Good team result for McLaren in what has been one of the best races of the season. Their dramatic rise to be the best performing team in terms of both drivers' performances continues.
Looking at the on-board replay it's the only explanation for a (very) slowly forward rolling motion that makes sense even on a declining track given the launch start system of F1 cars these days.Ricciardo is apparently blaming his false start on a slipping clutch. Sounds plausible, as I doubt he would have been rolling slowly intentionally at the start.

So... this one is almost certainly on the team, rather than the driver. He almost certainly would have finished ahead of Stroll if he didn't cop the penalty. Probably not ahead of Alonso or Hamilton though.Looking at the on-board replay it's the only explanation for a (very) slowly forward rolling motion that makes sense even on a declining track given the launch start system of F1 cars these days.
i wonder if the peeps at r.b are now regretting the contract extension.
