If GC match & force a trade, they may insist upon 2 x 1st Round TOP 10 picks?
They tell Richmond...”go out & get them”.
Or they want 2-3 existing Richmond players plus next years 1st Round.
If they cannot come to a deal...then Conners has to ask Lynch what his plan B is...Collingwood or Hawthorn or PSD to Carlton.
I have a feeling GC will play hard ball...to send a message to everyone (whether it’s practical/beneficial or not).
Line in the sand time?
Interesting stance if you are right.

Though to be their best hard ball is getting the compensation pick and with their pick it would be what 2 and 3 or done such.
They could bookend the two King boys or if fortunate snare Lukosius and a King or Rankine etc.

Then in two years the cycle can begin again:)

The only thing bleeding obvious is that you taken some poetic licence with the descriptors. He was (apparently) asked if he'd entertain a trade to enable us to reduce the impact of the Treloar deal (from memory). He declined. The following year he requested a trade. Shown the door indeed.
If being told the club wants to trade you isn't showing you the door then we have different definitions.

He was under contract and the club tried to trade him. He said he wanted to stay and he saw out the contract, then the club traded him.

Apologies for getting off topic but calling Witts a flog is out of line IMO (I know it wasn't you who said it)

It could have been "Wittsy, Treloar wants to come to us and GWS are looking for players.
There's an opportunity for you to go back to your home state and cement yourself as their number one ruckman.
What do you think?"

Sure, but then why pot him for leaving? Because he didn't do it in the same year? He obviously backed himself to get back into the side in his last contract year and couldn't (split webbing in his hand in Rd 1 didn't help).

Or it could have been:
Witts “Bucks, how come my locker has been cleaned out & my bag is packed?”
Bucks “Go see Walshy”
Walsh “It was Gubby”

Imagine Witts tapping down to Kelly, Shiel, Coniglio, Ward, Whitfield, Taranto and the rest. :openmouth:

Not hard to see why GWS were interested. That midfield with one of the leagues best "tap to advantage" ruckmen would be unbelievable.

This season Wittsy has won more hitouts than all of GWS put together.... would have been a win win for both clubs and players

Given the kids who have Lynch a spray maybe they used crayons.

I'm 99.9% convinced May will be gone at years end as well.
Is May still under contract or not?

Would love to get May, he’s exactly what we need.

Every club, every year, would have players they tell that they are going to test the trade waters with or that another club has made enquiries about and that they'd support the move if the said player was interested. Hardly constitutes "shown the door". If they'd delisted him with a year to go on his contract, that would constitute "shown the door". If the club had initiated the trade to GCS then you might even be able to make a case. This was neither of those (from my understanding/recollection of events).

I'm not potting him for leaving and I can't recall many, (if any) doing so.
You suggested he wanted out because we wanted to trade him.
I making the point we may have asked the question and moved on when he said no.
Bottom line, self-interest applies here; he, (possibly) wanted to prove himself by ousting Grundy, (thank goodness that didn't happen).
We wanted a different way of getting Treloar and ultimately we probably wanted more than what we got from GCS.

Can remember him being all the talk then someone said we’ll get a tall fwd from GC but it wont be him

Very witty

For a bag of chips. Hopefully that gives us some brownie points with the Suns when Lynch and May come to us? Although Bucks saying he met with Lynch really seems to have shot us in the foot.

I recall there being some connection between Lynch and Guy? Did they work at the same agency or something?
