If you stop and think about it the one clear advantage the teams surrounding us have in the build up for finals is in the key forward position.

Richmond - Riewoldt - 585 career goals@2.40 per game
West Coast Eagles - Kennedy - 553 career goals@2.54 per game
GWS Giants - Cameron - 320 career goals@2.56 per game
Melbourne - Hogan - 151 career goals@2.16 per game
Hawthorn - Roughead - 557 career goals@2.05 per game
Collingwood - Cox - 45 career goals@1.22 per game
Port Adelaide - Dixon - 198 career goals@1.58 per game
Sydney Swans - Franklin - 910 career goals@3.17 per game
Geelong - Hawkins - 487 career goals@2.14 per game
North Melbourne - Brown - 208 career goals@2.17 per game

While we can all admire what Cox has been able to achieve to date as an American playing a foreign game the stark reality is he'll be 28 at the start of next season and his ability to go another level remains an unknown.

While he has seemingly improved his overall game this season this hasn't been reflected in his goal output per match.

Last season he kicked 10.5 from 9 games. This year it's 18.9 from 17 games.

Given his hit out average has halved from last year he has clearly spent more time forward also.

The areas he has shown real improvement in are contested marking, 1% and inside 50's.

So, would Lynch be a very useful addition to our forward line?

Yes.

Would his presence benefit Cox also.

Most likely.

Would the combination of the two give opposition defenders nightmares?

Absolutely.

“Our injury status is not our narrative”: Buckley

And exactly how does that statement change the reality we're dealing with?

Explain to me how Hawthorn are in the top 4 in an 18 team competition after losing Buddy Mitchell Hodge Burchill Sicily Rioli Lewis Lake McEvoy and Brad Hill in various ways over the past 5 years?

The main reason is that they continue to maintain an experienced team. Even this week, average age >26 and average games 118. Bring in players like Mitchell and Frawley and Impey and O'Meara to offset the departures. Duel edged sword though. Consistently trade away those early picks at the draft and it will come back to bite. Might well be able to remain competitive but they're unlikely to ever go all the way.

and what if they pick up Lynch?

and what if they pick up Lynch?

Roughy has indicated he wants to go on in 2019. Who knows if he'll continue to contribute or we'll see a continuation of this years slight drop in output and consistency. Would it be Lynch in, Roughy out? My guess is that they'd essentially continue their holding pattern and slow slide, maintain an over-reliance upon too few to do too much. Time will tell.

Wow, isn't that the biggest case of sooky sooky la la from the Richmond Mod for their Tom Lynch thread. Could somebody please send the Kleenex truck around to him.

The Kleenex truck was always heading to Richmond, but Ned Guy has reportedly since been seen jumping their factory fence. Richmond are now concerned about the lack of word coming from the Kleenex factory and are starting to wonder whether the fact they enquired very early will have any bearings on their decision.

Get ready for the following...
Eddie got his girlfriend a job
We don't want him anyway
He's injured and not worth it
We only wanted to push his contract price up
Wouldn't fit into our forward line

'He didn't root us and then wipe us like a dirty arse. We rooted and wiped him...'
