Was ridiculous, I went back to check if I was seeing things but nope. He was just standing in our forward 50, not seeing any Essendon player and only finally left after Goldstein took a mark and they had the ball

Was the club doctor, not just any trainer. I believe he was out there trying to speak with Goldstein who'd just taken a head knock from Libba (and subsequent 50m penalty). Agree they spent a long time out there but there was a reason.

Is there any real reason to believe Bevo would be sacked this week? As opposed to any of the other ordinary losses of the last couple of years
Nope the time to do it was at the end of last season and the club as its way managed to fudge it by calling for a 'review.'

Something that in retrospect was a PR exercise designed to kick the can down the road, until supporters as is our way bought in on the bullshit of pre-season hopeium.

That decision is about to blow up in their faces like a CIA cigar destined for Fidel Castro.

He got subbed out mid-way through the third IIRC. He only had 42% ToG and Dale who would have played most of the remaining time got 30%. So it sounds like he was only getting about 60% game time even before being subbed. And he was doing OK. Not brilliant but OK.

Can't blame him for being pissed off.

He might have also felt that by being dragged he was being made the fall guy for the implosion that was going on. No way is a 19yo novice to blame for what happened tonight but I can understand his frustration.
I thought he was actually one of our best before being subbed. Was the one in the midfield providing the most defence and was going at 100% efficiency before being shifted to half forward/bench.

He fell over for a reason and when he got back up he still didn't look right. The word would have got around fairly quickly. He should have been taken off.
I agree he fell over for a reason. Just not sure how you can blame them for not spotting something which happened so quickly behind play. Who is spreading the message to get back to the bench?

We are a middle of the road team coached by a coach who has lost whatever it was he had drifting to oblivion.

That was pathetic, no other words for it.

Dale, Daniel, Williams, Baker, Poulter all can go.

English would pull the contract now and try to get back in the first round this year.

Smith cash in while we can unless he really wants to stay. Maybe 2 picks in the first round.

Too many of our better players do not stand up when the pressure is on.

Beverage, done, bring in an interim coach and plan for 2025 and see if we can emulate the pies.

Get Garcia, Buss, Cleary and Clarke in ASAP and when Lobb is fit Lobb for English.

Will probably give us a better chance even this year but this cannot continue

The trainers did go out a couple of minutes later and still let him play out the game. Not a good look. Even if Libba didn't want to come off, you sometimes have to protect the player from himself. Then boof head Beveridge when questioned about him in the Press conference says he tripped over something. Pathetic.

How many repeat sprints for VanderKing?

This loss is in the upper echelon of shit from the 2021 granny until now. Bombers missing so many best 22 players.

We never put sides away when we have the momentum. Easy shots missed just deflates the team, especially when they go end to end for an easy goal. 2 goal turn around after JUH's miss in the last sealed our fate.
It’s not limited to goalkicking. Plenty of really bad fumbles and skill errors, even from players who are usually reliable.

They analyse every knock on the boundary, I don’t know if they missed it, but the trainer should have gone to him. You don’t just “fall over” like that. Losing his balance and stumbling forward the way he did is not normal. I bet the AFL asks the question.

I think it was quite clear what it was saying. I’d rather we be competitive for the rest of the year than play like tonight for the rest of the year.
'Look it’s a bad performance, but we were pretty good the previous three. Absolutely no one played particularly well tonight. Even if it’s not a successful year I’d much rather we compete and develop kids well etc than implode.'

Maybe I'm reading it incorrectly. But it seems to me you're implying that we not overreact and take solace in that 'we were pretty good the previous three' ?

I’m not trying to act like an “I told you so” but I’ve talked about these English efforts for actual years. YEARS. And plenty others have too. Try and get whatever the hell we can out of West Coast and **** him off please.

As for the rest of the side, here is your first glimpse at the Bulldogs without Bont! It’s lovely isn’t it. Same usuals since even 2019, peaheart players that somehow escape true criticism and manifest delusion.

Also STOP with the whole recruiting bunch of delisted players tactic, they may have a couple solid games vs questionable opposition and specific conditions like Bramble round one, but there’s a reason they were delisted by Hawthorn, Melbourne, Collingwood etc.

Not sure we can play Buku and JOD in the same backline

Williams needs to go back or out
JJ 2 nightmares in a row
Garcia has to come in for Baker or Gallagher

Why does west only get a crack in the middle when the game is done?
Baker came on as sub, kicked 3 and had a superb game two or three weeks ago.

Gallagher rising star two weeks ago.

When you are pointing your finger at that many players surely you have to look at the coach.

There was less than 3 minutes to go in the game so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt in not having seen the incident nor the vision, and if word got around that he'd taken a tumble could only go out to ask him if he was OK.

I definitely don't think Bevo should have commented on it though other than to say 'the doctors will look at it'.
