What do we all think of this years interpretation?
From what I've seen - the good part of it seems to be that the umpires are allowing players who play the ball and collect it more latitude. This is a good thing for the game.
On the other hand - there seem to be a fair amount of confusing/inconsistent decisions about players who attempt to dispose of the ball when tackled - notably when a single arm is pinned, as well as players who end up on the ground, the ball somewhere around their person (but not in their hands).
There is very little consistency in the rule about legally disposing of the ball - there is the odd "dropping the ball" decision paid - but with no consistency. There is also a huge number of "handballs" coming out - when one arm is pinned. Flicking seems to be allowed this year.
