we do not need a athletic backman, what we need is a player that can take the oppositions number 1 forward, and hold them to a few goals. We already have plently of athletic backman with jacobs and croad.

I think we need a guy who is large and quick, as long as he is not too unco that will be valuable. Croad is fast but not stocky enough and jacobs is not stocky enough either....

Motwn is right. DJ is the best readerof the play weve got but his backis like a oold mans. keep him on the crap fowards and just let him do his stuff of watchin and marking th ball but stuff getting him to paly on bloeks like pebbles and brown and Hall. Hed just be gettin smashed into and into early reirment if he had do that. Thornton is a battler but if hes cheapish then yeah hed be a good pickup. 24 about right but th blues can **** of if thy want picksix.

Croad not stocky??? Have you seen his THIGHS???? Biggest pair I've seen on a non-bodybuilder. And as far as upper body is concerned, he's not exactly a 9-stone weakling. He's got a stronger body than Leo Barry or Matty Scarlett...

Find it strange with only another 3 1/2 working days before trade week starts that all the talk by blues fans of Thornton re-signing it still hasn't happened, especially when even spuds like Betts have been stitched up of late.
What are they waiting for? Clearly if Carlton can't throw a figure on the table by now it has to seem unlikely they will at all. Especially when Thornton can take off on holiday, overseas at that, happy in the knowledge his future will be handled by his manager over the next week and a half. Sounds like he would have to do his part and would already have agreed that if the contract wasn't done at Carlton, he has given his blessing to go to Hawthorn through a trade.

Jacobs, Croad, Dawson, Gilham, Roughy and Thornton as a list of available key defenders.
Tick, tick, tick. Every second down looks more likely he will be a Hawk, if not at least we can worry the hell out of a few blues for a while.
