Its a bit odd to me that their is no thread on this given the cost of living issues, the MCG ticket price freeze and the fact that despite what we pay, the money doesnt actually fully go back into the team and is instead spent on random crap none of us care about

We currently pay twice as much 90% of the fans in the competition and the question really has to be, why?

What reason is their for us to pay this much?

Does it make us a better team? Nope. Do we get extra value when we go to a game? Nope. Is their any advantage to our high prices in any way? Nope

I guess when its all said and done though, from Nisbetts point of view, why change the situation when no one is complaining or caring about it? Eagles fans for 10+ years now have put up with absurd ticket prices and just took it on the chin with no fightback. Its 2023, the situations are changing and its time for the Eagles fans to get some guts and fight back.

Ticket prices should be dropped by atleast 20% for 2024 and in 2023 the fans need to be given back something of value that other teams dont get to make our experience better. We deserve it

Supply and demand. There’s four or five games a weekend in Melbourne, that’s upwards of 300,000 seats. Members don’t take many of those except for the marquee games so there’s a surplus of GA seats for the vast majority of games.

We have one game a week, there’s very little general admission seats available so the price for those seats is higher.

Simple.

Ups and downs depending on specific category but overall roughly the same.
So its not a club issue then and more of a ground issue.

Im guessing its a case of Melbourne grounds getting more games so they can afford to lower costs and they are probably receiving government hand outs too since sport is such a big thing there.

Additionally WA has decent wages propped up by the FIFOs so they will gouge people if the money is there.

Something that also affects many areas other than football. "WA prices".

Nothing like having a WA Tax on top of the Australia Tax.

Don't really care. If people want to go, they pay for it. If you can't afford it, then don't go. Personally, I just don't go. It's always been too much money to bother with a membership.

There are other options if you want to watch the sport. Go see a WAFL game.

Don't agree with this at all. 20 years ago if you were an Australian sports fan then you could watch your heroes on TV for free or go see them live for a reasonable price. Nowadays you have to have access to Foxtel/Kayo (or other streaming) or pay exorbitant prices to go see them live.

Access to sport should be for everyone, especially kids so they can get into the habit of being active instead of watching our population grow fatter by the day. It's unAustralian and it's shit what it has become.

Garbage….. four games max were shown on free to air, the Friday night game was delayed , the Sunday arvo game usually ended up starting at midnight or 2 am Monday morning and were dragged out by ads being inserted after every goal and 5 min ad beaks at halftime while being told if you don’t want to know the score look away now….

We played the Bulldogs in 99 in a final on a Friday night, you had to wait till the game was finished before it was on tv or listen to the radio. Only highlight was ringing a friend who at that stage was a bulldogs supporter and wrecking the replay for him…

No way the old days were better.

So what you're saying is on the medium available at the time you could watch the maximum amount of games possible for free? Sounds rough.

Of course the access now is better, I'm talking about paying for stuff here. It's pretty rare that the access to things these days isn't better champ.

Oh I’ve been internet champed….

It’s your choice…
if you don’t want to pay its your choice… you will still get your crappy coverage with ads at whatever time the broadcaster sees fit….
20 years ago you weren’t getting India v australia on free to air.

Chump.
