Great response after a poor start. The young brigade have been excellent led by Hartung, Howe and Brand. Lovell has done some good things and TOB played his best half of footy at senior level.

Lewis, Birchall, Rioli, Smith, Hill and Stratton have responded after below average games last week.

Bruest, Poppy and Gunston have looked very dangerous.

Need to put them away early and not give them any sort of sniff.

Has been caught out a few times with his positioning in the marking contest but thats due to the step up in level from the vfl imo, once he gets the hang of it he will be fine, adds a truckload of structure just by being out on the ground, is giving us a bit of drive as well cant ask for more than that.

Lucky the Tiges give the ball to us occasionally. Except for Langford and Poppy our stoppages suck. Langford burrows in. Nice tackles from Lewis. Sicilly crap kick across ground we didn't need. Brand looks steady.

They're using Hartung as a kick-in receiver a lot. He is able to break through the defensive zones with his run and carry and long kicking. I like it.

Seems that they are grooming him for that qtr back role. Was doing it a bit last year when he was in. Seems to fill hodgys role from last few weeks which was played by gibbo in his big game rd 2.

Great response from Lewy tonight.

Had 6 possessions until the 23rd minute mark and then got 4 quick ones. 2 contested possessions and 2 clearances, no where near good enough. Solid fight back the last 5 minutes

Ive been a massive critic of Lewis the last 2 years but when you're out of form one thing you can do is tackle and he's laid some massive ones.

5 tackles caught rioli twice holding the ball and wasnt rewarded.

I really enjoyed that half of football. We aren't smashing them or putting them away but we are seeing the kids contributing under the leadership of the next tier veterans. (Rioli, Bruest, Gunston etc). I feel like an old guy who is no longer interested making a fortune and just enjoys see the next generation develop and progress. So far this game every single one of the <20 game crew has contributed and gets a pass mark in my opinion.

Yes but completely different roles. I agree Birch has been off but I don't think he would be the one squeezed out to play Brand, reckon Doc or Billy would go first.

Yeah agree. Been solid. Still raw, making some errors, but been good. Get Frawley down there for support, gives Gibbo more of a chance to come 3rd man up and create

With frawley there we have 2 super athletic talls which is the prototype in the modern age, must stick with that structure going forward.
