Half time:

Well it hasn't been a great game. We haven't really fixed any problems: still losing clearances, contested possessions, the ruck battle. Our scoring targets are narrowed to Puopolo, Rioli and Bruest as it has been over the past few weeks.

But there's one good thing out of this game: the youngsters.

Lovell is getting his hands on the pill and doing some really promising things. Brand doesn't look out of place on the resting ruckman; very calm and composed. Will be better if he stays when Frawley comes in. Howe has looked solid, getting a lot of the ball and not fumbling, making the right decisions. O'Brien has probably had the biggest impact of all the forwards if you take away scoring. Langford (does he count as young?) is a contested bull and a decieving important player. Hartung makes some silly mistakes but we're using him to rebound from halfback which is a big responsibility for a younger player and he's been doing reasonably well.

The dissapointing thing is some of the established players to be honest. Sheils has become fumbly. Duryea has started doubting himself. Birchall looks awkward. McEvoy and Ceglar are being monstered by Hampson and Griffiths. Hill doesn't seem to want to run (though he has done some nice things).

The rest have been OK. Which probably sums up this game: OK against a average side without a lot of our veterans.

Youngsters playing good is always fantastic though and is what's keeping me watching.

Had 6 possessions until the 23rd minute mark and then got 4 quick ones. 2 contested possessions and 2 clearances, no where near good enough. Solid fight back the last 5 minutes

His pressure, tackling and general intensity has been good. A platform to build from

We are so far away from it atm. Richmond are putrid, we are just a little less putrid.

We are battling with so many young players in the side.

Agrred, two mid table sides out clangering each other

Some nice things from young players.

Our bag of forward tricks is much more varied tha richmonds, and there defence is terrible

People say ruckman are overrated and to an extent they probably are but this team with an A grade ruckman would be great to watch.

McEvoy is good around the ground but gets hammered regularly in the middle. Yes our mids are down this year but our ruckman are a real issue which amplifies this

Did others not appreciate Sicily's "Junktime Jack Darling" impersonation with the centering kick that went behind the target by 20m?

Loving what KB brings to the table, needs to be a lock for the season.. Lovell has been OK, getting the grip of the game and should be a player.

10000000000% agree he plays every game from now on! Looks solid tonight and will help even more with Frawley back - they won't need to play to free up Gibbo a bit!

Gunstons contested marking is incredible. Much better showing. Young blokes have been good so far. Great contributions from the blokes who needed to stand up.
Commentators on fox going on like we are down by 10 goals again...
I thought we have been pretty good

I listen to my radio on the ABC, best commentators of all of them. I mute C7, can't stand listening to them.

Nice to see Lovell, Howe and Hartung high on our disposal tally. Says a bit about the load distribution but also that they're stepping up so far tonight. Its amazing how different the team looks tonight.

A couple of nice play reads by Howell as well.

Brand doesn't look out of place either.

It's good that Brand and TOB are playing well, but we are in desperate need of players in the middle to win clearances and contested possessions. I don't like our chances this year if we loss ruck taps, clearances and contested possessions and by a significant margin in several games.

We look really dangerous when we go forward just need more entries.

Hampson giving McEvoy a lesson

:$:$:$:$:$:$
I don't usually bag Hawthorn players but I've seen kids in the under 9s who relish physical contact more than Ben McEvoy.

Have to apology to Langers who I blamed for that centring kick turnover that was apparently Sicily....and them blast him for dribbling from 15m out straight in front and missing. I find him hard to tolerate. Don't care how hard he is, he has to clean up his disposal or he's a liability.

Loving Breust's first Q particularly and TOBs all round game. Attacking the contest really well and dishing off cleanly to his runners. Great to watch.

Should be good enough IF we maintain composure and don't hand back momentum with poor turnovers.

Consider the personnel changes the team is going through, they've been pretty good. Commentators seem to ignore the obvious and focus on historical data.
