It should be noted that Caro already had Fevola sacked after the exposure incident. She may well have had him deregistered after the photo scandal as well.

This time there seems to be more substance to the claims, but until it happens I won't be 100% convinced.

Unlikely support...albeit too late

YOU don't know what you've got until it's gone. If you're one of a growing band of fans wanting to see Brendan Fevola's backside waddle off into the sunset, think about an AFL without unpredictable showmen.

It was all that is good about Fev. Let's hope we get to see it again.

I'm glad we won't...at least at the Lions anyway...what a waste and debacle this turned out to be. Let's just hope this is the end of circus that has become our club and we can focus on any one of the other 40+ boys, with a few exceptions.

No need for hindsight here, but what a smashing decision to recruit for this guy, when most knew what a disaster this would become...top effort, Allen, Kelly, Bowers and VOSS!!!
Risks like this have to be taken in footy imo because if they come off you're that much closer to having a serious attempt at a grand final. Of course it hasn't in this case but I still think risks like this need to be taken or your team turns out like Adelaide where you pretty much make the finals every year but never get any further (although the future is looking a little brighter for us imo).

A few little tidbits in the article certainly give it the feel of substance rather than Caro's previous arm-waving.

God. So predicable. They hound him out of the game then moan about it. Pretty upsetting actually.

Well you can keep on hoping Grim, but from the grumblings I have heard in recent days, I for one am 100% convinced, but no doubt will not become official until mid next week.

Waiting for confirmation does not mean I hope it is false.

I don't recall the Crows circa 97-98, the Lions circa 01-04 or modern Geelong ever takings such risks in bringing anyone as controversial in, so couldn't disagree anymore. The Lions were nicely positioned at the end of 2009, and who knows, maybe we could have pushed for a flag with that set-up after reaching the semi's, but now we are in no better position after our golden era players moved on b/w 05-08 and will be waiting even longer, maybe 13-14 if we are lucky. That is very dangerous for a club such as ours in the Brisbane market.

Superstar player, gonna be remembered for all the wrong reasons :( Anyone here know if he's leaving footy forever or going to a new club?

I was very young for the Crows 97-98 back to back but I'm pretty sure that was when Blight was brought in and a number of senior players were cut from the list which many disagreed with at the time.

The Lions 01-04 team didn't need any risks to get there as they already had enough talent on the list to be far above the rest of the comp. I guess Aker was a pretty big trouble but since he was performing well (as was the rest of the club) it didn't matter that much.

I don't think Geelong really took any risks as to bring anyone in but they did decide to suspend SJ for 6-8 odd weeks rather then trading him off which turned out really well imo. Not exactly the same thing but a risk nonetheless.

St.Kilda brought in Lovett which obviously didn't work, but I often wonder, what would have happened if they went for Cousins the year before when they were considering bringing him in? Would he have made a difference in the past couple of grand finals? No way to tell but I think he would have.

I do agree it is very dangerous for a club such as Brisbane but what if it had of worked out? What if Feb and Brown kicked 150 between them last year? When both were fit (+ the best 22 in Drummond, Adcock etc) Brisbane came out very strong and I'm sure had Fev remained uninjured he would have kicked 60+ last season and Brisbane would have been looking much stronger then how they finished. If this had of happened, imagine the positive impact this would have had on the club. There was always the chance (pretty big chance at that) that he was going to be in the media at some stage through his time at Brisbane for the wrong reasons but had he have been performing well on the field would it have mattered that much? I guess it would have depended on where the club finished on the ladder (such as when Aker was at the Lions).

If he has gone it's very disappointing for the Lions and Fev as this trade has damaged the club majorly (and for a long period of time) and Fev will not be given the chance to make up for his pre season mistakes.

Pike obviously didn't cost anywhere near as much but was certainly a significant risk. We wouldn't have won the flags without him though.

I'm not convinced on Kero's say so ...I'll wait for the clubs official announcement...Certain things just don't add up ...If the intentions are to get rid then why send Matt Hass or be in constant contact?

The AFL said last night the situation remained in Brisbane's domain. "It's really a matter for the club to sort through with Brendan, that's where it's at," AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said.
"Brisbane have kept us informed to date and I expect them to keep us informed of their plans."
Lions teammate Tom Rockliff said strength and conditioning coach Matt Hass joined Fevola for a private session last weekend.

fevolas future

The board must decide what carries the biggest price - Fevola staying and potentially damaging the club culture, or an estimated $1.5 million severance payout and associated salary cap pain.
An AFL spokesman yesterday confirmed that any payout to Fevola if he is cut loose would count under the salary cap.
fevola

Voss, who was unaware of any date for the meeting, said it was still too early to tell if Fevola would be given the green light to resume training with the Lions afterwards.

"I've already met him and spoken to him and the club's been in constant contact with him all the time about how he's tracking along,
" Voss told 3AW radio on Thursday night.

Brownlow Judd is just one of the Carlton Bay13 alias ADHD kiddies. Just do what everyone on Bay13 does and skip over his posts.

I'm not an alias, and I just came on here to ask a genuine question....

Fev's adjourned court date was 23 feb i think.

seems wierd to wait for alby's conviction/hearing, but not fev's - unless the sit down between fev's lawyer and cops has produced a deal which the club is aware of.

Pope: the footy department was probably operating on the assumption that he was staying. The board are the ones who made the final call on Fev.

Made or will make the final call?...If it was already made..and after the year from hell, I would have hoped for a bit of honesty rather than allowing a charade and wasting the resourses of the football department.. Not to mention giving a depressed person false hopes...IMO that's poor form.

Yeah, I'm not quite following the "we'll tell Caro now and then wait a week to announce it ourselves" logic. I would have thought as soon as the decision has been made you announce it as soon as it is practical, so you can then move on as quickly as possible.
