No, I think last weeks incident with the Bont was shocking, and despite this weeks in isolation being not as bad, is actually worse considering he pleaded 'guilty' for his actions against the Bont yet went and did pretty much the same action the following week.

I suspect the only people who can't see the absurdity of Greene's recidivist actions are just rooting for GWS to beat Collingwood and also realise that without Greene GWS chances of doing so would be that much harder.
I actually think he did learn from the Bont incident and the subsequent tribunal outcome. Just not as much as people expected (or hoped) he would. Because the Bont incident is categorically worse and Greene was charged with “serious misconduct” for a combination of things in that incident. He probably got the message that he’d gone “too far” in that and thought if that’s the “too far” line, then surely softer versions of the things I did there in isolation would not be “too far”.

He isn’t just going to shrink back into a perfect teacher’s pet type just because he was told his Bont roughing up was over the line. He would have known what he did to Neale was no where near as rough as he was with Bont and that he had genuinely made a compromise with the MRO concerning his niggling behaviour to keep it below a certain level of ferocity.

Hes a deadset moron then.

Or maybe you as a member of the audience and he as the player just have vastly different expectations and perspectives.
Nah. If he felt that still pawing at someone’s face after being fined for a similar actually last week was making a compromise to his playing style, he’s a moron.
It’s a piss weak act, and you’ve been jumping through hoops to defend him for it.

Can’t say I’ve ever played with anyone, in any sport who thinks pawing at their opponents face is a reasonable or hard tactic. You’d cop a lot worse than a fine for that crap if you did it at local level.

Part and parcel of rugby. Every game.

Can’t say I’ve noticed the same fingering of the face. I’ve seen eye gouges in league. But didn’t see the same defence.

If so, same opinion. Piss weak.
Hahahaha it’s not quite “fingering the face” it’s open palmed pressure on the face when opponent is on the ground. Been around for 100 years and Melbourne Storm are the absolute modern-day pros at it.

My experience at local level says otherwise. No cameras, people can get away with quite a bit.

Ah you’re talking about something different I’d say. Although I’d still say it’s piss weak.

Storm do a lot of dodgy shit. I’m not a blond supporter

I think you mistake what I mean. At local level players don’t tolerate it, cheap shots tend to end up with the bloke on his arse.

Yeah and a free awarded to the bloke on his arse since no one saw the “cheap shot” when it’s a brief face massage that did no damage.

Lol you’ve had nothing to do with local footy if you think that’s the case

“Good blokes” just aren’t provoked that easily. Greene’s just weeding out the hot heads.
Good blokes probably don’t belt security guards either.

So Neale and bont didn’t respond. Guess Greene’s radar must be off.

It’s weird watching a bloke try and justify hair pulling and raking the face in sport.

Be nice if Greene could put his tough guy persona to good use. There’s plenty of charity boxing and mma events out there

I think you will find neutral support for Collingwood has grown markedly this week.

Nah, I am on the Giants bandwagon all the way, would love to see Toby Greene play in the Grand Final. He deserves it !!!!

I don’t think “neutral towards Collingwood” and “Carlton supporter” is really a thing though 😂

I think most neutral fans wanted west coast to beat geelong, doesn’t mean I think freo fans felt the same

I don’t have to think that’s the case when it’s my experience. But you can think what you want.

I don’t think Greene is a “good bloke” either. Bont isn’t because he’s a violent player too but Neale has that “good bloke” about him. Footy is better theatre with goodies and baddies.

I don’t think umpiring in under 12s counts in this discussion. You can’t claim on one hand that people get away with more in local because there’s no camera, while also saying people get penalised if they knock someone on their arse.

The bont is violent now...

Nah. Footy is better when teams play actual footy. You know, tough, hard at the ball. Not trying to finger blokes faces or pull their hair.

I think maybe WWE might more be your thing.

One is subtle niggling and the other is knocking someone on the ground so of course lack of cameras make a difference there.

The Bont meant to dump Lids in that tackle.

Greene is 99% tough and hard at the ball, and 1% hair puller/face massager but that 1% get’s blown up.

Because whatever percent hair puller and eye fingerer are dirty cheap acts

Nah. Unless an umpire sees it directly you’re not in trouble. AFLOE had a match day report because a player ended up with a broken nose 100m off the ball. Umpire didn’t actually see what happened, no cameras on the event. League said no suspension. No free was paid on the day.
You’d only be penalised if you dropped the bloke in clear view of an umpire (and most grades of footy are recorded now, so unless it’s way off the ball it’ll be caught on camera)

Either way, you enjoy watching hair pulling and face raking in footy and it apparently makes football more interesting for you. Most don’t agree.

Who gives a shit if a player dumped someone hard in a tackle? A tackle is a legitimate football act.

Definite fake gws account.
Hair pulling = makes footy exciting
Rough tackle = violent persona, not a good bloke

FFS eye gouging is not subtle niggling. We do not palm the face in AFL.

Part and parcel of rugby. Every game.

Raiders rookie Hudson Young has copped an eight-game ban for eye-gouging despite both he and Adam Pompey categorically denying he made any contact with the Warrior's eyes.

AFL tribunal is soft

Someone posted in this thread or elsewhere that a League player was suspended for 9 weeks for an eye gouge
Toby didn’t eye gouge - and has not eye gouged anyone.

Only hysteric fans say he did. Which isn’t no true the same thing.

AFL tribunal is soft
You’re soft in the head if you think the twin incidents are anywhere near the same.

You're defending clawing at a bloke's face.

"You're soft in the head" if you think that's acceptable part of AFL football.
