What a name!

Here's my preferred McCasker

Mitch Brown (pick 16) went 6 picks after his twin bro Nathan (pick 10)
Twins:
Ed Lower Rookie Pick 10......Nick Lower Pick 30

Jake Kolodjashnij Pick 41 Kade Kolodjashnij Pick 5

Brad Scott Pick 60 Chris Scott Pick 12

Darrly Wakelin Pick 11 Pre Seas Draft Shane Wakelin Pick 31

Adam Selwood Pick 53 Troy Selwood Pick 19

Nathan Lonie Pick 58 Ryan Lonie Pick 24

So I would say that the Brown Twins were the exception rather than the norm, don't you think?

Ah Chee looks like a dreadful first round pick. Will never make AFL grade - far too small and just doesn't have the pace. He takes a hanger off a huge run up (that will never be given at AFL) and people start wetting their pants.

He's a quite a good contested mark on the lead from what I've seen.

Kieran Lovell is better doe ;)

Just had a look at our list and i can say that theres potential for this side to be a powerhouse side and win a few premierships in the next few years.
I made a mock B22 for 2020 and this is what it looks like:

Eagles best 22 in 2020

FB Sheppard (29) Schofield (31) ……...
HB Nelson(24) Barrass( 25) Jetta(31)
C Duggan(23) Redden (30) Gaff (28)
HF Yeo(27) Darling (28) Lamb(24)
FF Cripps(28) McGovern (28) Lycett (24)
R Naitanui(30) Shuey(30) Sheed (25)
I Masten(31)? Wellingham (32)? Hill(31)? ………

Guys that could Break into this side
Alec waterman (24), Malcom Karpany (25) Damien Cavka(24)

Put a question mark next to the 3 benched because both could potential be with us and producing good footy but could also be too old and have retired by then. Eric MacKenzei could make the side but at 32 and after an ACL late in his career, he could possible not not be playing by then.

With good drafting and recruiting, we could potentially add a few more quality player into that list (hopefully cripps, hogan, swallow, Martin, Pickett).

wouldnt be suprised if Mcginnity is still part of the team.

Chances are our 2020 side will look drastically different to that. It's too far ahead to he projecting accurately.
very likley its not the same side but we could have a chunk of those players in the actual side. Even if we had had 11-15 of the players named above, we could still be successful. what i like about the current list is that we have a lot quality players atm that arent't even 25 yet.

Duggan and Sheed will still be our only two decent young mids.

We need more Elite midfield talent now and in 2020!
Yeo is on the verge of being elite and gaff is thereabouts. both will be in their prime then as 27/28 year olds. By then we should recruit and draft a few players and hopefully some of the gun young WA talent would want to come back home.

I reckon Waterman, Lamb and Cavka will be gone this time next year but I understand the point of the exercise.

We do have a pretty good age spread on our list but yes we do need to add a couple of good midfield prospects to pad out the depth. Maybe not necessarily in this draft but moving forward.

Hopefully Lamb re-signs before then and doesnt want to head back to vic. Theres a slight chance of him breaking into the 22 but that would be through injury or if hill doesnt perform.

I suspect waterman will be given a chance due to his link to the club and the fact that he was more than promising before glandular fever. If he overcomes earlier into the season (best case in the preseason) he could be pushing for a debut later in the year IMO.

Cavka is interesting but i wouldnt mind keeping him for atleast 1 more year.

Yeah i heard next years draft is good and hopefully we keep our first round pick so we add some talent and also add to the team VIA FA rather than trade (daniel rich would be good).

Yeo needs a lot more consistency before he's even considered elite.

Hopefully a more settled role in the midfield will provide the impetus for this.

I think that's all he needs. It's hard to develop consistency when you're constantly thrown around from position to position.
He really was Mr Fixit for Simmo this year. I mean hell he even chopped out in the ruck.
We certainly saw what he was capable of earlier in the year. Maybe we don't expect consistent performances to that level but he clearly showed the ability to accumulate, use the ball well, and go forward to kick goals. I think with Ezy back in the team and Brown back as depth, Yeo might go back at times but should be playing just about the whole season through the midfield and resting forward. I think he'll certainly be at least on the fringe of elite status if he can play through the midfield and develop consistency he's an absolute beast and a freakish talent

Cool. So let's make the same mistake that Sydney made with Jetta.

Rookie Brenden Abbott? Has had issues with home sickness at Collingwood but might be different if he's at home.

Yeah flip with Jetta with Duggan and it looks pretty good to me. I don't think anyone on the interchange will be there in 2020 nor perhaps Jetta. Would like to see McInnes in the mix as well. I'd also tentatively slot Adamson into that back pocket slot - I think he'll make it (elite sports people know what it takes). By then Duggan might be playing through the middle as well, especially if he develops those guns any more (like the idea of Cousins v2.0 minus the drug addiction).

Obviously this isn't a real prediction of our team in 5 years but it's a good exercise in looking at what we may need in the future. I think our forward line is looking pretty good - good mix of talls and smalls - especially if Yeo, Redden, Sheed prove they can rotate forward and kick goals in 2016. The midfield looks good (especially on the inside) but think we could do with one more agile outside mid with elite kicking on our list. Karpany seems capable of becoming that but I guess we'll see how he develops next year. Our back line looks ok but if Gov goes forward then we probably need to find another good KPD to develop or trade in (plus another medium sized defender - someone who could match up well on a Darling type forward). I think I'd prefer to draft another couple Barrass types and take some time to develop them up, so they hang around and the timing works well.

Nice work avishka5
