Training report

Warm session
I rocked up during warm up and shortly after they proceeded to a match sim for 1 quarter followed by circle work and dome light skill work.

I have already mentioned those on restricted duties. You did everything bar the match sim. He still glides over the turf and his kicking is still elite. We need him in. My vest bet is two weeks time he'll be back in for the AFL side.

Darcy looked great. He may not be match fit but dud everything well. He looks strong but more nimble. I hope he still has the strength to.iur muscle the opposition rucks. He will be very close to playing.

Simpson looked really good today and could pish for selection. He trained fully and looks dynamic. I focused on him as we havena spot open from injury.

Voss also looked great today. Its a real shame he missed so many kicks on game day because he was powerful today.

Banfield was poor with his grubber kicks. Struggled to hit up targets. I know he'll get a game so I'll leave it at that.

Amiss is definitely out if form and the players struggle to hit him on the lead.

Walters and Fyfe didn't train. Maybe gym work.

It wasn't a full on session and nothing really stood out to me. The main highlight is Darcy and Young inching closer to a game for Freo or Peel.

A brave move would be to give Dudley a go up forward this week. He does everything right at training and could cause some headaches teaming with Bolton. I'm not 100%. On Bolton he definitely looks sore but that's the impact of a big ore season. We can criticise JLO but Merryman does get them fit for round 1.

I'm back at work next week as the doctor has ticked me off. So this is it for a while.

Peace ✌️ and love ❤️

You are a God amongst men.
Any sign of J Carr?
I'd be totally onboard with giving Dudley a run. God know when need more excitement and flair. Give the kid a run and let him wreak havoc on the ground. We have no one down there with a real football brain other than Bolton/Reid to get in good positions when the ball is being spoiled & rove the crumbs.

Yes Carr trained. I didn't notice him too much. At the moment he just blends in.

Dudley and Reid stand out

Yes to Simpson in too. Maybe Sub to come on and run amok when others are tiring.

I'd love that

Plus I'm no God I'm just the average bloke who loves Freo and wishes he could still play even if it's just ammos. I bloody miss those days.

Wake up to.a cool morning, the smell of grass. A couple of punch ups on the field with a few goals kicked off the boot. Then afterwards a beer or 12 with the lads and a few joints passed around.

Now I'm stuck dreaming about it.

Oohh yeahhhh the open carton in the change rooms. The tunes flowing as you talk about your favourite moment of the game. Miss those days.. being young and fit.

Yeah, something special about those times and how i may have taken it for granted.

Something about footy clubs and the atmosphere it provides

I know just what you mean. I can have a rather florid turn of phrase at times and the God thing was my way of expressing gratitude for the effort you made to write the report. These personal observations are gold to me in my desperation.

I gave away footy too early and at times wish I'd gone on with it. My partner knows if we're walking past a game of ammos I will want to just sit and watch as I love the sights and sounds and smells of the game. I can still remember like its yesterday when you could still go into the change rooms before the game at Claremont Oval & watch the heroes strapping up and the smell of the dencorub everywhere.

I'm actually getting closer to the point I'm going to give the AFL away (too much noise and rah rah) and just wander down to Freo Oval and Moss St etc and take in the WAFL and have a kick with a mate at half time.

That sounds like an enjoyable day and way to go

I like how you remember the sight smell and feelings as it heightens our senses doing things we love and those senses take us back to different times

Definitely. Memories are encoded that way. Fresh cut grass was always the start of cricket season, the crack of a cricket ball coming off willow.

The beginning of autumn, the yellow in the leaves and a slight chill in the air means footy, the thunk of a boot hitting ball, the yelling between players, the slap of bodies colliding and the smell of hotdogs & hot chips.

When Freo still trained at Freo I could go into a trance just sitting on the terraces under the fig tree just soaking it all in.
Now I'm seeing the WAFL colts boys walking towards Freo Oval with their kit when I head to the beach on Saturday morning. I get a tingle in my blood.
