Travis Baird

He was no good at Brisbane, and he is no good at the Bulldogs. This dud has played his last game for the Doggies.

Not the only ex lion who should never never never get another game. Maybe he should take up breast stroke.

Baird looks like someone who's still trying to figure out how to play his position correctly. A long stint at the Bees could be very handy. Needs to do a LOT of work.

Pask looks too slow for our style of game. Even if he's sitting in a forward pocket, he needs the marks to stick, or he's going to get comprehensively beaten at ground level and his opponent will run off him with ease.

He had a shocker, as did most of his team mates, including Ray and Robbins.

However Baird did play a couple of very handy games last year before he got injured, I wouldn't discount him yet, but he certainly has to earn his place through hard work at Werribee.

Skipper, Pask are cameo players at best, they shouldn't be in our best 22.
However I do like how Wight is shaping up, he genuinely provides a contest and is a good spoiler.

Minson needs to tidy up his play and not give easy free kicks or turnover the ball as easily.

Ray has to pull his finger out, he needs to produce consistent good football and run the lines more often.

Pask and Baird were the worst on ground tongiht.
Pask because he just looked out of it. and Baird because whenevr he got it he scrweed up.

looking forward to saying goodbye to the amateurs and bringing bak the big boys.
Outs: Baird, Pask, Lynch, Harbrow, Addison, Skipper
Ins: Darcy, Murphy, Hahn, Johnson, Griffen, Coooney, Akermanis, Grant

amen.

also shows how important Street is to our side. He is miles ahead of minson IMO.

Did anyone see the ordinary effort from Baird in the marking contest in the forward 50? Needs to show a hell of alot more intensity than that!!Pask well lets be honest brisbane wouldn't have let him leave if he had any talent.

Yeah give Baird and Pask the flick.

Pask will tantalize you with potential but just dissapoint you when it comes to the crunch.

Just too slow, wasn't quite as obvious in Brisbane but amongst your mosquito fleet it is just magnified.

Realistically for Pask to stay on the list he will have to strongly compete with Podsiadly. I can't see that happening, although i still agree with rookieing him for depth and a match tough frame.

Far too early to write off Baird but, with McDougall showing some good signs at CHF and Darcy to provide the big presence we need deep in the forward line, Baird would seem to be competing with Murphy for a place. If Murph is fit, Baird will not see much game time this year. But he showed some good signs last year and against good sides in the real season.

Amuses me how some people resort to extreme statments to make up for a lack of impact through logic and reasoning.

May I ask how you knew he was 'no good' at Brisbane? He played 2 games there as an 18/19 yo, didn't he? Not sure he had that much ground time. Perhaps you watched alot of QAFL during 2005? When you have something against a player, you seem to struggle to see any good in them (ie. Jordy). You even wished injury upon Baird last week FFS.

Baird has been very poor in the last 2 weeks, however he showed a few decent signs last year. He really needs to add more strings to his bow if he is going to make it at the level. Needs to improve overhead, have an excellent work rate and needs good/clever disposal if he is going to play the forward target role.

I think he will struggle to make it, but just calling someone a 'dud' so early on in their career without any further explanations is poor.

Baird has been ordinary the last two weeks, and probably will never be a superstar of the AFL, but there is a spot for him in this team. He's not a defender, but he could be a very handy HFF. When forward he was our 2nd tall, he will be a good 2nd teir player with more quality around him.

I personally thought Baird did well last night. He presented more than anyone, and although he made a lot of errors, he worked hard. Once he gets some more size, and improves his decision making a bit, he'll be a player. I wouldn't be writing him off just yet.

I'm not writing him off either, but he was far from good. His decision making and disposal was poor, he tried to take on tacklers and got beaten every time, and looked like he didn't belong out there. He had a poor game.

Totally agree, thumbs up.

Simple. Anyone with half a brain would realise he was delisted by Brisbane after only playing a couple of games for them. Would Brisbane keep him if he were good? If he was something better than "no good", don't you think Brisbane would have tried to trade him rather than delisting him? If Brisbane were somehow blind and couldn't see his talent, then so too were the clubs that had 42 selections before us in the 2005 Draft.

I don't need to watch QAFL games. I just have to realise that he did play QAFL to understand that he was "no good" to play for the Brisbane firsts. Granted, he was only nineteen, but if he had some promise, the Lions would have kept him. It means they thought he was "no good" as a nineteen-year-old, and had only a little chance of one day becoming good.

Did you see McMahon's kick in the first quarter that went straight to the opposition when he could have kept running? The start of the play looked dangerous and threatening (as most of McMahon's attacks do), but his kicking isn't always precise. He does stuff up, you just have to learn to admit it. As for the Baird comment, yes I was harsh, very harsh. The fact is, for someone like Harbrow to be promoted, we need a long-term injury to one of our players. I'd like to see Harbrow given a go, though.

He showed me one decent game last year. It was against Richmond and I thought we might have found a player. I was hoping beyond hope that he would be one player to really take that next step this year, and it hasn't happened. Very disappointing.

And compared to the majority of 640 odd other AFL players, he is a dud.

Travis Baird was a Brisbane rookie that the Lions wanted to keep on their rookie list for another season. 2 clubs, the Bulldogs & Collingwood showed enough intrest in Baird to convince him to not remain on Brisbane rooke list, but nominate for the National Draft, which he did & was selected. He was never delisted by Brisbane.

Baird was disappointing last night - he certainly is not in our best 22 and will only play when our list is depleted and there is not much left to pick from. I am not quite prepared to write him off completely - I would like to him do really well at Werribee this year and improve his skill and confidence.

Pask, fortunately he is on the rookie list and may do ok at Werribee. I would be astonished, if not amazed if he ever got promoted to the senior list.

Yeah, but Brisbane didn't decide to promote him. That's what I was getting at. I thought that was as good as being delisted.
