Senior homicide detective described the scene as possibly the most horrific he has seen in his career.

Homicide squad detectives are trying to piece together what they have described as the "horrific" murder of three people at a home in Ellenbrook in Perth's north-eastern suburbs.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Steel said police were called to a convenience store at about 1:30am and then to a house nearby.

"They located two deceased people inside the home and a further victim in the rear yard," he said.

I blame the ice epidemic. I live in the Perth CBD and amount of homelessness, mental illness and drug abuse is astounding. Politicians are pretending it's not happening.

Can you give us some examples of other shocking murders going down in Perth recently?

I recall a father murdered both of his children whilst his wife was working away last year.

Not really.Theres just the steady procession of domestic issues mental health issues drug issues. the usual known to the victims sort of thing.I wouldnt pay much attention to sensationalism just like Im not quaking in my boots about the aboriginal biker gang that has existed for more than ten years before they got noticed

There have been an unusual number of females convicted of murder in the last year though.

Unconfirmed but I expect so as it says he is related. Either that or a cousin living with them. Neighbours have reported previous disturbances. Really tragic.

So horribly sad. He's been remanded to the Frankland Centre secure mental health facility at Graylands Hospital after clashing with the magistrate.

Magistrate Greg Smith asked Mr Petersen-Crofts to stop talking, but he ignored the request and continued with his outburst.

"I was painting a picture of Jesus … Mama told me to save myself," he said.

"He looks like a serial killer and he's a security guard."

Yeah that certainly is one, just for a start ,shocking murder of seven, its investigated by the Perth wallopers of course my statementit includes the whole of Western Australia.
I was only using Perth in the context of" sleepy old"and wasn't expecting a cross-examination,there are PLENTY MORE..
It is the same as people report Adelaide as the bizzaro murder capital of Australia but a nitpicker could argue lot of the actual crimes take place outside of Adelaide in the Hills, Victor Harbor, Gawler etc.

Thanks , sorry to derail the thread ......but he did ask for it.....the ones mentioned are only within last couple of years but going back even further been some other interesting ones,,,will post a few there.....

A few more details. Friday night police were called to the same house after calls from neighbors, where they found the son brandishing a piece of wood and trying to bash the family.

They released him Saturday from hospital and Sunday he murdered his family.

Drugs are a big factor in this family.

Getting back to the topic at hand ...ie this triple murder described by senior cops as particulary gruesome and one of the worst police have dealt with....

They are always described like that by the team prosecuting the case.

One reason is because it sets the tone for the case they want to win and the second is because it's so rare to see a murder like this in WA that most police on the scene literally haven't seen children murdered before, so it's their worst.
