So, I'm actually going ahead with this lol. Signed a build contract recently, and settled on a block of land on Wednesday. Build selections meeting next Wednesday.
So, I'm actually going ahead with this lol. Signed a build contract recently, and settled on a block of land on Wednesday. Build selections meeting next Wednesday.
So far things seem to being going fairly smoothly (apart from some back and forth with the agent so they could get the land contract right). Block already has a certificate of title and council approval for the build, so ready to start building around mid year, and price is locked in if we start building before September (subject to price changes from the selections).

The less cool story to come from that was the at the time wide spread assumption across social media that the Asian lady must have been the children’s nanny, and not the wife / mum…. which is a frightening reality check on casual racism.

It's quite dull.
In my hope I’m not homeless in 2 weeks Sydney rental crisis adventures I had the joy of going to a rental inspection today for a 2 bedroom unit for $750 that featured a line up going both ways down the street, **** knows how many people? 70? 100? So I could climb 2 flights of stairs to walk into a literal shoe box that featured a kitchen that must have been less than 1.5m by 1.5 m (including benches)
To give you a visual clue at how small that is, if you opened the dishwasher door it would take up the entire standing space in the kitchen.
They’re now advertising the place I’m currently in for $900 a week. (A decade ago the place I’m living in was the sydney equivalent of hansen road. And it’s still a stones throw from Redfern tower crack dens)

Sorry to hear this is still giving you a rough time man, the country is in a ridiculous situation re housing.
Are you still thinking about moving back to Adelaide?
