Overwhelmingly, it's women.
Women are the main consumers of true crime, from podcasts, books, documentaries to browsing crime forums. Why?
It teaches women survival skills. (Ted Bundy killed at least 30 of us)
It allows women to tap into their revenge and anger fantasies without actually hurting anybody.
Women aren't as squeamish over blood.
They're attracted to the dark side of the human psyche they don't understand. (Know your enemy)
Many women know what it's like to live in fear. (Exposure therapy)
They're f***ing addicts. (Think of an adrenaline hit of terror but in a controlled environment, scary but safe)
Women are more empathetic towards victims. (It has more relevance)
