Yep there will be captains and vice captains, captain's stats will be doubled as in most fantasy formats.

Season 1 of this dynasty/keeper league which will be run on Ultimate-Footy. These are the initial rules and league set up going into season 1:
-14 teams
-List sizes of 44 players per team
-Minimum of 3 draft picks used by each team in the annual draft each season
-Players eligble to be drafted each season are those selected in the NAB AFL draft, the Rookie draft, the pre-season draft, any players in the free agent pool at the end of the previous season and any category B/international rookies.

Scoring will be as follows:
9 categories which will be weighted as:
2 points awarded for winning the following categories: Kicks, handballs, marks, hitouts, tackles, total score
1 point awarded for winning the following categories: frees for, frees against, goal scoring accuracy %
All captain's statistics will be doubled, vice captain's statistics will be doubled if a team's captain doesn't play

- At the end of the regular season the top 8 sides will playoff in the finals in the same format as real life.
- There will be no cap on list changes in the off season/during the draft period, there will be a cap on free agency moves during the season, the number of which is undecided at this point in time.
-Trading during the season is allowed but there will be a trade window which will be open most of the regular season and close shortly before finals begin.
-Future draft pick trading is allowed for one season ahead only.

Oh yah i didn't state the format in the OP, i'll update that later. But yeah that format looks about right, keeps it as real life as possible.

Of course. It will probably take a while as well, i'm gonna look to kick the draft off early next year, that way we don't need to rush through it since we have like 600 picks to make.

All first up drafts of a dynasty leagues that I have been involved with have had a online draft on a set night where we have been able to get it over and done with in one evening. 44 x 14 x say maximum of 1 minute per pick has the draft going for a maximum of 10 hours, but in my experience they usually take between 3 and 4 hours. The strength of this approach is that we get it done quickly, the weakness is that it might be impossible to find a suitable day/evening where all 14 coaches are available at the same time.. I think a 12 hour per pick draft for over 600 picks could realistically take at least 4 to 6 weeks to complete.

Nah we won't be taking this approach. if we do this there will be a few managers who are unable to attend and who will then have their entire team autopicked and who will then be very unhappy. not ideal for a dynasty league that i would like to run for many years.

There will be a time limit on picks based on how many days we have to get through the draft. It will be hours not minutes. I think this approach allows everyone adequate time to make their pick or set up pick preferences for each pick.

I agree, and if we have the time a long draft is the way to go ☺ 12 hour windows seem to work well, that are set to not include late night/early mornings. I think we should have plenty of time, as long as coaches are patient with some coaches taking their allotted time - sometimes other commitments make it impossible to go online multie times during a day. I am looking forward to it!

Yeah exactly. if we start well before the season proper we should have plenty of time to do a slow online draft. I'll set up a fairly long time limit for picks to start off with and if it's going too slow and doesn't look like we'll finish in time then the time limit will be reduced.

I messaged the Facebook page of UF in regards to when they'd be launching the 2017 page. "Hi Eric, we will be gearing things up in the new year. Should have everything set up for the end of Jan. Have a great Christmas!" So looking to kick this off at the end of Jan/start of Feb. Can everyone registered please pm me your email sometime over the next month so i can invite you when we're ready to go.

Always a possibility of 2 people dropping out, wouldn't surprise at all. Don't want to do 16 teams as it will result in a very shallow FA pool or smaller list sizes neither of which most of us want, sorry. You'll get a call up eventually, no dynasty league keeps it's original owners forever.
