What! You call yourself a footy buff. Douttas only just got over the line against pacco over the weekend. Greenvale premiers and champions mate.

Yeh I did get a surprise when I saw the Douttas result - well done Pacco.
Greenvale do have a great u/16 team with 3 u/15 schoolboys players in it. Should be a good game against Doutta's.

From what I've heard of the game went in very arrogant and were done by 8 goals at 3 quarter time, came back to win by a goal which is a credit for Pascoe Value and a warning for the rest of the competition. You can't hold douttas down!

Who are the guns from each club? The Jets and Cannons have a fair few EDFL players in both teams. WHo is staring and who has been overlooked.

Doutta Stars have probs best player in the country for his age in Tommy Lucin but has cannons and other commitments atm. IMO i think a kid called Alistar Kefford from abers is up there with the best in the league. also James Mclean from aberfieldie is having one of the best seasons i have seen in a long time.

marc clemente n ben calcagno are both tough as nails and superly underated. Clemente is a quick and silky backman whilst calcagno has super skills n is hard to catch. GREENVALE VS DOUTAS should be aa great game to watch.... i cant split them but im sure marc and ben will be firing for both teams:thumbsu:

Let's hope they play Lucin and Talia on each other. That wil be a great battle.

"Who plays first in what" ????? If you mean who plays first for the Cannons in TAC then Lucin has already played one game.
I mean lets see if they both play in the Greenvale V Douttas match. They are both restricted to one match a week by Calder so if either play U/18's or TAC cup they won't play on the Sunday.

Talia, Melksham, Lucin and Rayner have all survived the next cut at Vic Metro. Doubt if any will now be available for club footy this weekend.

u heard wrong.
pacco were up by 6 goals at quarter time, 2 goals at half time and 9 points at 3 quarter time.

Had the pleasure of watching the U16A GF between Keilor & Doutta on Sunday. I must say the standard was exceptional and both teams were very well coached. The only downer on the day was the disgraceful remarks from some Keilor parent in front of the players race, yelling out across the fence for their player to deliberately throw the doutta player into to the fence and smash his head in. I did hear a funny comment though that made these fools shut up......someone yelled out that the Immagration Officers were on their way to check for illegal immigrants........they went very quiet and actually disappeared 5 minutes from the finish when doutta had the game wrapped up. Obviously the Kebabs needed some attention !!!!

Can't coment about the parents but can say a very good game of footy by both sides. Scores tight all day Keilor looked good at 3/4 time but ran out of legs & just couldn't keep Lucin in check in the last quarter.
Credit must go to DS but a fantastic effort by Keilor to get to the granny.
So much for GV - premiers & champions??? It's never in the bag until the siren.

I was at the Grand Final and to point a few things out that have been said in the thread
Marc Clemete is NOT THAT GOOD. Hardly got a touch and was probably only used in the backline as a tackle, hold up the play player.
I heard alot of hype about Tom Lucin, and when i saw him play i dont think that he is that good!
It was a different game to what i was expecting and he didnt deserve the bog.
My thoughts would have been number 9 from ds

What type of game were u expecting - it is only local u/16 footy.

Well Ive heard big things about the EDFL skills wise. Not being a tuff league, more skill.
So i guess i was expecting a game with a lot of the boys hitting targets and such. But it seemed to me that most of the kicks were grubbers.
Not a lot of switching took place and because both teams had 2 sides in the under 16s. I thought that at least every kids there would be able to play. But this wasnt shown

Yeah I can agree with that.

The EDFL is not the strongest district going around which is disappointing. You only have to look at the lack of EDFL boys in the u/16 Cannons list who took the next step and made it to VM trials. However saying that it was great that 3 EDFL boys managed to get in the VM team with 1 getting AIS. Diamond Valley leauge (Knights) managed to get 8 in team.

What I have noticed over the past few years is the lack of training our EDFL teams have. the DV league picks their district squads (U/14, 15/ 16)before Xmas and they train together for a few months. This can only improve their boys skills, training with better kids. The EDFL teams are only selected a few weeks before Metro championships with final cut usually 2 weeks before 1st match, which is rubbish.

I also believe the other problem is that clubs like DS and Greenvale do not get enough hard games. DS have had an easy ride for years so their boys must have something. I think in 3 years they have lost 2 games - this doesn't really improve football skills.

If u want to go and see some good u/16 footy try and go to some of the u/16 carnival next year.

When you said that there arnt alot of boys from the EDFL in the Cannons. What other league do they take them from.
What league would you suggest is the best going around in metro victoria?
Because in the u15 metro champs, the WRFL finished 2nd to the YVFL and the WRFL beat the EDFL comfortably inmy memory serves me correctly
Being in the WRFL, and Werribee a's play, i think that they could beat DS or Greenvale easily and maybe even Keilor.
This is where i would like to see 2 inter-league club matchs take place.
Werribee v DS
Williamstown v Greenvale
Because all the people at school talk the EDFL up so much, and personally i think that teh WRFL is better. And it would finally shut them up

Judd you are kidding yourself if you think the WRFL is a better comp than the EDFL. DS won the flag, so why do you think that you would beat them easily but you "maybe" might beat Keilor? I thought you went to the game?

4 EDFL boys made VM 16's, how many from WRFL?

There are 24 Clubs in the EDFL, some clubs with upto 15 junior sides, its just a pure weight of numbers thing.
