The Front Bar acknowledged Mots passing at the start of their last segment. Still nothing from the VFL Media guys and girls.
It’s bloody disgusting, was there ever a more successful playing career? as well as AFL hall of fame managed Nathan Buckley Craig Bradley Warren Tredrea and many others, his son played at Carlton my God they even acknowledged Kevin Neale’s passing not that long ago (I forgot he was a Victorian)

His Son Peter was a champion in his own right.
Seen him absolutely destroy G Ablett in a state game at Footy Park.
If not for his accident he would have been a up there with the best.

In the Tiser today it advised in the funeral notices that a "Celebration of Life" will be held at the club on Monday 9th Oct.

Nice touch and most appropriate!

No details as yet, but not expecting it to be of the magnitude of Russell's tribute service.

It will be streamed.

I've got Meals on Wheels deliveries, so I can't get to watch it. Hopefully the club or the SANFL puts up a link to the stream that we can all watch at a later time.

Beautiful service.

Well hosted Tim Ginever, and eulogists, Jenny Williams, Craig Bradley, Nathan Buckley and Peter Motley.

Some wonderful stories and remembrances of a Port Adelaide legend.

I only got the time to see part of Bradley's eulogy. Hopefully the stream stay up so I can watch the rest later tonight.

Watching the GWS game in the 2nd half today, the words of our most successful player - not necessarily best, but 9 premierships makes him our most successful - kept flooding the front of my mind.

After his retirement Motley said: “We played on the basis that we could not possibly let down the followers of the Port Adelaide Football Club - the greatest gift we could give them was a premiership.”

Our current players and coaches, maybe even admin, just don't think like this anymore.

Sure our players make some great efforts to engage with fans for photos, sign merchandise, chat to people at functions, but how much do the fans really mean to them? The guys who played for Port pre AFL lived in the local area, be they born and bred there, or were recruited from the bush, or from around Oz. They spent their lives in and around our fans.

Now players are sheltered from fans. They come from all over Oz and bugger all live in the heartland and have to deal with the hard core supporters, who in the old days used to keep them accountable. Same with the coaches.

Sure all VFL clubs have had to go thru this change as the draft brings in players from all over Oz. Some have kept the old traditional connections, some haven't, some lost it and had to rebuild it.

Can't say the players didn't try today, but they played with a lack of real hunger and real desire.

They let down the followers of the Port Adelaide Football Club.

Hopefully one of Mots proteges, has a big hand in changing the current status quo soon.
