Just announced. Gutted he won’t be around for this finals campaign but the boys will do him proud. Will always remember him beaming with pride at the 2016 GF. Rest in peace.

A great man. Met him a number of times, most recently (last year or two) on the Bourke St steps outside Marvel, and again when I was in a guard of honour pre-game at Marvel.
A true gentleman, but happy to chat, always smiling. A great Bulldog on and off the field. I suspected this was coming, but it still makes me very sad.
He played in the 61 GF... let's make Friday night a win in his memory.

Vale John Schultz. 🔴⚪🔵

A sad day in Bulldogs history. He bled red, white and blue.

May his memory be for a blessing.

Gentleman John and EJ are reason I have been a Bulldog since the age of 7.
Saved from a rabid Essendon family.

I was taken to bulldog home games by the family of a schoolmate.
looking up at these 2 footy gods in their Bulldog gear in the rooms pre game left me star struck.
They always took the time out to give me a pat on the head and a quick chat.
Seems like only yesterday.

A great man , RIP John.

Oh no, that's incredibly sad :'( . I hadn't heard anything since Bevo went to visit him in hospital a couple of weeks ago.

Often seen in the change rooms and around the club, loyal to the end.

2016 would have been such a highlight for him, as it was for us to see him presenting the cup.

RIP John.

This is such a sad day for the club.

I had his number on my back as a little kid. Just idolised him.

Brownlow night, 1960 - my dad came in to my bedroom to tell me Schultzy had won the medal.

I should have been fast asleep, but Dad knew I wouldn't be...

Have always been in awe of the man and always will be.

Vale, Mr Schultz.

Just seeing the thread title … my heart sank. Oh no. Beautiful man and a legend of the club. RIP.
Would love us to bring home another flag for the big fella.

😢

Gutted. RIP John.

Will never forget how nice he was to me personally in a chance encounter on the train on the way to the footy (just chatting about his role in the box etc. when I struck up a conversation after recognising him) while I was having a very difficult time in my life. His kindness made a real impact.
