Sad to hear of the passing of Ross Thornton at 67.

146 senior games for Fitzroy between 1980-1989. 26 goals. Best and Fairest in 1984. Last game for Fitzroy was the 1989 Reserves Premiership.

I do remember him well and he was not a bad footballer, may he RIP and condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad news to have lost Ross Thornton well before his time.
It's testament to Ross's determination that he debuted with Fitzroy in 1980, five years after initially being rejected by the club.
Ross's career highlights would have to be winning the 1984 club best and fairest award, captaining the side in the magnificent 1986 elimination final victory over Essendon and bowing out in 1989 with a thrilling reserves Grand Final win against Geelong.
